Terrible experience. I am not the kind of traveller that expects much from hostels, but this one was the most disappointing ever. This happens because the great city's atmosphere is not felt inside. The staff is definitely rude as if they were doing a favor when asked for any reason. If you are a man, forget it. Even worse. Dirty rooms and bathrooms. The breakfast takes one hour to be ready after ordered, and ir's expensive.... No security and no reason for staying here. Avoid this place.

It was a nice hostel, good atmosphere, nice and friendly staff, nothing special. Rooms were a little bit dirty but nice. Good hostel to stay in if you want to go (learn) surfing.

Good staff and Great location, but it could definitely be a lot cleaner! Also, if you are allergic to animals, it should be known there are a lot of dogs and cats that also live there!

The hostel is located right infront of the beach. That is very great. The international staff is not really welcoming their guests, at least not all of them. It seems more like you have to be thankful when they take their time to respond your questions. The bathrooms for everyone are not very clean because there are all the surfers who walk in and out with a lot of sand on their feed. The kitchen is well equiped but nobody cleans anything. But the animals are awesome.

It's a surf hostel for surfers but even then you expect the place to have basic hygiene sorted. Toilet bins were not emptied by the cleaners and were over flowing, also the floors weren't cleaned. The owners were not around for most of our stay and as such the Peruvian staff clearly had a relaxed attitude to duties. Basic rooms are very basic, our room had many cob-webs and things that fell from the ceiling. Many finger prints Positives: the wi-if works and the food was served was good.

Great spot, right on the beach. The breakfasts were scrummy although some days you got heaps and other days not so much!! I stayed in the 4 bed dorm and it was great as it was only me... there are no lockers otherwise so be aware of that. Really cool terrace as well... easily more laid back than some of the other surf hostels around. I'd recommend it.

The Surf Hostel Meri is a really nice hostel and I enjoyed my stay. You are really close to the beach and everything else you need. The food in the hostel was cheap and delicious! I only had one problem: I was looking for a hostel in Trujillo and because I didn't know much about the region I just booked Surf Hostel Meri. But it is not in the CITY of Trujillo!! It is half an hour bus ride away (good thing: buses leave all the time just in the street of the hostel).

I love this place. Love it! The rooms are nothing special but give you everything you need. The breakfasts on offer are brilliant but not included. Wifi is reliable. Location is excellent. Surf school is better than most with great instructors. But really - it's the atmosphere. You can't help but feel at home, comfortable and relaxed, and everyone is so, so friendly. I didn't want to leave. I love this place!

I liked this hostel, mainly because it had a nice quiet, chilled-out vibe and because of the way it was arranged: kind of random with loads of old sofas and knick-knacks all over the place, dogs running round and lots of mysterious rooms downstairs. The security was poor - all of the bags were just left in a pile near the counter and there was no staff around when i returned to collect mine so i could have taken anyone´s! The staff also weren´t very attentive and i had to pester them a lot

Nice place by the beach. The staff was friendly but new and didnt know too much about the area. Also they were all over the hostel and kind of hard to find when you wanted something. The kitchen was outside and not the best. Otherwise: all good.

Rad place, expecially if you love to surf! Dorms can get a but musky but this is not a big deal. Staff is very friendly, location is great, food is delicious. I would recommend this to anyone!

I had a great stay here. Everyone was very friendly, the location was great, there is an AMAZING breakfast (for purchase), and cheap surfing lessons. Would definitely recommend! The only thing that could be improved is adding lockers in the bedrooms.
