My boyfriend and I stayed at Surfer's Haven for two nights but wished we'd stayed longer. It's situated in a lovely secluded spot of eleuthera, with a beautiful beach only a short walk away. The "apartment" which we stayed in was great, it has everything you need including an en-suite and kitchen! The room has a lovely homely feel with a balcony that looks out over the ocean. Tom

This is such a wonderful place to get away from it all. Your room overlooks the ocean and a beautiful beach is about 5mins walk away. There is a lovely and well equipped outdoor cooking/sitting area. Two nice little villages within a couple of miles. And best of all the hosts - Tom and Liz are wonderful, knowledgable and hospitable people who will make your stay one to remember forever. I want to go back already!

Surfers Haven doesn't seem to have security but the honesty of the people who live in the area. Liz and Tom are very well known and there are only about 650 people living in Gregory Town. The location is stupendous if you want to surf, not so great if you aren't planning to hire a car... Liz was friendly enough and the atmosphere laid back. The cost of the rooms is astoundingly good value for the Bahamas and my upstairs room had kitchenette, fridge, fan and unbeatable view and balcony

The problem with this hostel is the management. You're sharing space with Tom and Liz, the managers / owners. They are very rude and act like they don't want you there, so it makes for an awkward stay. Liz accused us of taking their snorkeling equipment after we had rented it from Tom, they chastised us for having two people in a "one-person" hammock (we didn't know... it fit both of us), and Liz tried to charge us for the last night of our stay after I had cancelled within the guidelines.

Owner Comment (Hide)
We're doing our best! thanks for your feedback, Customer service is something we are aware always needs working on! Maybe some of our comments were misconstrued by you. Please keep in mind, like Eleuthera, we don't claim to be for everyone. Our 'label is on the can' and we offer a communal, hostel aesthetic and hey, someone's gotta run it =) But your comments are taken seriously and as said we work on it =) This is Tom by the way and honestly Liz does a heckuva job, maybe more misunderstandings
