Tom and Liz are really nice and helpful! They have a lot of information what you can do in the area! You should try to surf and hitchhike to Gregory town. Hitchhiking is so easy here!! The hostel is located in a very calm area, the perfect place to relax! If you have a lazy day, just hang out in one of the hammocks and read a book:)

thanks for the kind words Julia. 'Calm area' I like that!

A bit isolated, can really only hitch-hike anywhere, now walking. Sliding glass door to bedroom without lock, cockroaches and big moths in room. No real groceries stores close by, only convenient stores in Gregory Town. Stove burners difficult to light. A little in disrepair but clean. Small number of guests so once again a bit isolating. Very relaxing though and Surfer's Beach was beautiful.

Thanks for the review Heather. We are slowly improving the rooms here and etc. Please note our very reasonable room rates (you cannot beat the prices, especially considering all the extras we offer: drinking water, fresh ground coffee etc etc) So improvements come slower as the $$ aren't flowing in but that is the choice we make to offer such reasonable accomodations. I also noticed you said you have to hitchhike - well a. you forgot to mention that you guys rented the bikes and rode to the caves and into town. b. Gregory Town is a 30 minute walk away And it's great that you can hitchhike here - one of the last places in the world to do it. You will find bugs everywhere in the Bahamas - we do not spray our place with chemicals - we use safer more organic means. Oh and that big moth is called a money bat - if one lands on you it means you're going to be rich! As far as being isolated - well I would say a. read the literature and website info b. along the same lines do some research. In the SECOND PARAGRAPH of our property info on hostelworld.com we say quote There is a remote feel here!!!! In the info email I sent you it does say in CAPS WE ARE OUT IN OUR OWN LITTLE CORNER OF THE ISLAND So you can't review us down for that. For example if a place says on their website and in their emails We are conveniently located smack dab in the heart of the city, you can't complain or write a bad review because you didn't want to be in the middle of the city! As mentioned research where you are going. We do mention it b/c we know it is not everyone's cup of tea, but for many it only makes it better! Thanks for staying! Go Canada!
