Had a wicked christmas and new year at Surfside Coogee Beach. There was always something to do and it was easy to make friends. The girls dorm was particularly nice as it was very quiet and had its own bathroom, couches, tv and dvd. Found the staff very approachable and friendly. At times the partying was a little intense- but it was the holidays! Had a great time and left with some amazing mates and memories!

This is about the 40th hostel I've stayed at in my time, whilst the hostel is excellent, the staff efficient and the general vibe is good. Allowing hostel guest to make huge amounts of noise until 5am in the morning isn't a good idea, you may also like to warn people that room 1 is the party room.

I stayed at Surfside Hostel for the last two nights of my month long vacation to Australia. It was a great location but I have to say the staff was not that friendly for the two nights i was there. First off you cant get in this place because its located upstairs and the door is locked all the time. the bathrooms are messy, theres no lockers for your stuff, and god forbid you leave your food in the kitchen it be thrown away by the staff. I would look for another place in Coogee Bay.

Staff refused to refund us after giving us directions to the wrong hostel were we were forced to spend the night sleeping on bean bags in the TV room, actually went so far as to try and say that it was partially our fault for following their directions to the wrong place. No sense of service at all, argued with us over $29 after forcing us to sleep on the floor, eventually gave us some free internet, not a positive experience at all.

No nightlife to speak of, hard to sleep if by the balcony because everyone stays up smoking. Very close to the beach and bus station is a plus.

This was the worst night sleep of my life, people partying literally outside of my room until 4 am. Felt like high school students had taken over the Hostel. If you want to party, go there, if you want a place to get a good night sleep, avoid at all cost.

To Be honest I have nothing good to say about this Place. The Location is far of from the Central, the costs are besides good or Bad. You hav to Pay 3$ for sheets with certain receptionists. And the toilets were the worst I've ever seen. One was blocked and they just put the lid down and hoped it would go away by itself. So do yourself a favour and don't support such a place!

Not too impressed with this hostel. There was an additional charge of $3 for the use of sheets which was very cheeky considering the cheapest room was 25 dollars, but really 28 dollars. I have always found hostels in Australia to be very unregulated in terms of health & safety. This hostel proved this. The bathrooms were filthy & my bed had sand on it despite it being a topbunk. The 2 showers have little space ur stuff will get wet. no lift for people with heavy bags four flights of stairs. :-(

Really enjoyed staying in this hostel. Had a nice communal area with tv and our dorm also had sofas and tv. Bathroom could have done with a clean but overall it was good. Really good location right by the beach and bus stops. Met some nice people. Wasnt enough plug sockets around tho. Just by the tv and in the bathroom. Could have done with some by the beds... All in all really enjoyed my stay.

Although some of the hostel facilities do not always work I had a very enjoyable stay at Surfside Coogee. Especially over Christmas the hostel put on some great events. The hostel also had very friendly staff, particulary the english blonde stud muffin who worked behind reception ;)
