The location is superb and on a hot sunny day it's so convenient as coogee beach is literally 50 meters across the road. The rooms are very very small and so densely packed with bunks. It's hard to find a place to leave your bag as there's not enough space in the rooms. The blonde receptionist is not bad, she's Dutch/French so has a very abrupt mannerism but she is not rude. That's just the way she comes across. For the location I would stay again but overall the place needs a revamp.
It's a big hostel however the cooking and chill out facilities are far too small. The beds are uncomfortable and cramed into the rooms. Although they state that the wifi is free, this is not the case. Also they state a free breakfast, however you have to provide your own milk and there is no bread available either.
Such a shame that the hostel manager feels it's okay to treat the customers in such a rude manner. Un-friendly and un-welcoming. Every guest i spoke to was shocked by her demeanour, i find it very strange that a business can run with someone at the front, being so rude. We booked a room of x10 girls, only to find it had two separate adjoining rooms with at least an extra x6 girls in each room, all using one dirty small bathroom, with one shower and one toilet. Which was filthy when we arrived.

The room was a female doom with 10people in it with only 1 plug to charge your phone. The dutch girl behind the reception wasn't nice to anyone in the hostel. Would be more pleasent if she could smile ones in a while. There were nice staff but she was there most of the time.
Even though I didn't expect much from this hostel in the first place, apart from the location, it was worse than I expected. Not only would the 12 bed dorm I stayed in have been hardly big enough for 6 beds, the bed itself was terrible. You felt the hard metal bed base through the thin mattress. To make matters worse, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. There was an actual fire and we weren't able to go back inside till 3am. I left the next day; still had to pay for 3 nights.
THis place is over priced for what it is. Small dorm rooms with no space for bags. No windows , It says there is free internet but its a scam. They give you 1 hr free but they take $3 out of your security of $30 and say we take it for Laundry cleaning of your sheets and give you internet., SCAM what hostel charges for cleaning your own bedding when its provided. People sleeping on the floor in the dorms when i booked 12 person dorm and it had 15 people in it. Rude Manager and desk girl.
The blonde girl at the reception was very rude and had problems with lots of people. Hostel was very dirty and there seemed to be no cleaning at all. First two nights only cold water in the shower. Summary: worst hostel I stayed at so far...
Bedding was a foam mattress with a fitted sheet (bed bug heaven) sheet was dirty & dooner covers & pillow cases also looked dirty. A group of aussie guys on our level who were so so loud & spewing off balcony onto footpath, staff member saw this happen & did nothing about it, there should be security kicking people like that out. someone shat on toilet seat in male toilets. Staff were rude & not helpful. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
good location and friendly staff. bathrooms were acceptable until finding out most of the showers had no hot water and none of the taps worked which is pretty disgusting. rooms ok, mattresses made of foam! and they like to scam a few extra dollars out of you 'to clean your sheets'. would reccomend on the fact of location.
