I got so many bed bug bites. (several bites lined up in a row.) my friend and I saw the bugs (on the pillow, on the wall) - and showed them. I'm very having a hard time because of the symptom - redness, swelling, and itching.

Room really needs to be vacuumed! There were toe nail clippings on he floor among other things If you're staying here bring your own sheet, they don't put a cover on the doona or wash the doona for a new person. Lots of mozzies, bring bug spray. Not sure about bed bugs but be cautious. Breakfast is free but really bad. Stale cornflakes and gross packaged croissants. Not worth eating.

There were bedbugs and when we tried to get our money back and tell them that they had begbugs the hostel manager told me I was lying and didn't have any proof. The only way to communicate with the man at the hostel was in French and it still took a long time to convince him that we were leaving, and an even longer time to express that we needed our money back.

I was beyond disappointed with my stay at this hostel. The review that I was concerned about had to do with bedbugs; however, the owner replied w/ a reasonable explanation. Let me tell you that this place does have bed bugs among other insects (I killed several). They must know this because there is a loud bug zapper in the middle of the room. I left with about a dozen bites after just one night and spent little time in the canals. If you are sensitive to cleanliness, I would not stay here.

I would highly recommend Sweet Dreams! Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent lockers to store your stuff, free breakfast, free wifi....and at the heart of Venice! What more could you ask for?! Definitely would come back!!

BEWARE MOSQUITOES. Next to no precautions are taken here to prevent 'zanzarra'. No mesh on the windows (which are always opened in the daytime to air out rooms), and only one small bug light for the 8 person room. I got eaten alive everynight. The front desk is helpful, although his English is limited. There are also 3 flights of stairs just to get in. Many bathrooms, which are decently cleaned. Also found a dead bed bug near my bed. Had my bites checked by and they were definitely mosquito.

While I had a very enjoyable stay, and the location of the hostel is great, the floors in the rooms look like they haven't been vacuumed in months, the sheets were clean but the comforter looks like it needs some serious cleaning. Also, there are DEFINITELY bed bugs here. I got both mosquito bites and bed bug bites in this hostel. You can tell the difference by googling images of the bites. Stay here at your own risk!

a bit unprofessional, there was no one at the desk for the check-out, they overbooked one room, but not bunk beds wich was great and very large rooms. No lights in the bathroom, so you have to shower in the dark.

I had a reservation and got placed in a bed that was already taken. They moved me to a new room and when I politely said I didn't understand what happened, the worker got defensive and kept saying "don't be mad at me." He later came back and gave me a drink to give to my friend as an apology of sorts. When I asked what was in it, he said "something to calm your friend down." What? Also I got an e-mail saying I'd be charged for a no-show even though I showed up and paid in full. Unprofessional.

Pretty inconspicuous building, but this gave it character. 3 flights of stairs with luggage was a little tricky. Personal lockers provided. Fantastic location in the heart of Venice ahich limits travel costs, compared to perhaps cheaper hostels in Mestre. Staff are really friendly and helpful! My stay seemed pretty expensive, but as I was there over the Easter weekend, I think that everywhere in Venice had higher prices anyway.

Bed bugs. Cute building with character and lots of stairs, but the facilities are old and creaky (and not so much in a beautiful, historical city way), and there are bed bugs. I heard a girl mention getting bites on my first night, and then on my 2nd night I got about 10. Not worth the 80 euros I paid for 2 nights. Good location but it's not worth the risk of bugs.

Really lovely place. The staff was friendly and helpful. It wasn't too hard too find either, considering the maze that Venice is.

I liked to stay there, it is very close to everywhere. I stayed in a 8 female dorm and the beds were separate and I loved that. The floor was carpet so you wouldnt hear any person walking. It was cleaned all the time. Security is good. I highly advise it for staying.

Lynn, the lady who runs the place, was the sweetest & most caring/helpful person I've met! The lockers were huge, beds/bathroom fine (though weak water pressure) & a good breakfast/hang out area, although I didn't meet anyone properly as the hostel was pretty empty. Get a waterbus pass - great value for money if you're staying over a day, but be warned everything is super expensive. If you've got loads of luggage, be warned that there is no lift and hundreds of steep stairs up to the hostel.

For me it was a delight, a pleasant surprise to find that "corner" of harmony in the centre of Venice, away from the crowded streets. I found a warm welcome when I arrived, I felt sorry that I had to leave, but when I'll return I'll definitly go there again.
