One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. The location just around 5 min. walking from Times Square and 4 from Central Park is just flawless... Stayed there for two night interrupted by my trip to DC, first night I got free update to double room, the other I was moved to another facility just across the Avenue, just a minute from original. The staff remembered me, helped me, stored my stuff for my last day and let me take a shower before my evening flight to Europe. Simply: Recommended

Great location. Quite run down and very basic but I was only using it as a place to sleep. There isn't much going on socially but I was there when it was really quiet.

One of the best hostel deals in nyc. Has a great location, nice rooms and is a very reasonable price. If you dont need organsed pub crawls and activities from your hostel and your confident with what you want to see in nyc then this is the hostel for you

I liked the entire place. I stayed in the dorms so for the money in NYC you probable can't beat it. Although I wish theh had internet for the dorms and not for just the privates. Besides that the facilities, staff and cleanliness was outstanding.

Not clean. Old beds & old mattresses. But friendly and helpful staff.

We had to pay an extra $40 for getting there after midnight... that was ok but we were not told that in advance the place was WAY better than we expected so that kind of compensated for everything... great apartment and the staff was very helpful, except not there 24h, which was an additional problem for us... I`d stay there again

The address I stayed is not swiss hostel, after I checked in at the address of the Swiss hostel( btw, the name of the hotel on the address is not swiss hostel, it's a different name), the staff took me to a dfferent building which located one block away, it's basically a apartment , not a hostel. And the Internet is only provided at the checking place , so I you want to use Internet, you have to go to that address before 12am.also, I noticed that checked out time is only between 8-11am.

1 After did the book and pay 10%, the hostel sent me an email asking more 50% of down-payment because was for the NYE, but there was nothing written when I did the book. Even before I answer this email, I saw that they were already charged my credit card in the same time. 2 I had to wait for 1h to do the check-in because there was nobody. 3 There is no lockers like written. 4 I stayed in an apt 1 block away, not in a hostel. There were some people living in the apt. 5 The hostel smells mold.

Cheap hostel and good location, but the facilities are very rundown. The room and bathroom were unclean.

We stayed for 12nights in the Tarzan room. Was very clean and tidy upon arrival, but on the 2nd night we had a mouse come and eat some M&Ms we'd bought from M&M world. After we heard it we saw mouse traps had been placed under our bed, obviously not very effective! So the rest of our food went into the fridge in our room. Unfortunately the fridge tends to freeze most items. Location was brilliant! Quick walk to either Times Sqaure or Central Park, but not cheap for what you get

Amazing location- walking disstance to Central Park and Times Square. Not the cleanest place, but worth it!

The Swiss Hostel is in a "normal" house. With kitchen facilities (e.g. oven, microwave, fridge) , what is pretty cool. But NO WIFI, what is really uncool! It is a maisonette (2 floors) on the top floor there is a bath tub, on the lower floor is a normal shower :). The price is OK for New York!

In terms of hostels, the place is alright. But weekend rates (December 2011) make a dorm bed (some of them mattresses on the floor) $110/night, which is outright ridiculous. Staff is nice and location very convenient if you're doing anything touristy. Overall a good place, just overpriced.

I wouldn´t recommend this hostel. When we arrived, we had to change the room because the mattress in the first one was a disaster! then the bed sheets in the second room looked like they weren´t clean... We spent 1 week there and towels were never changed, we had to take our garbage in front of our door!!

Perfect located in N.Y.C. next to the central park. You reach everything important in a couple of minutes. Only the price could be very expensive... but... this is N.Y.

This is a nice hostel, very close to midtown. It is really great for the price you pay.
