This is a nice hostel, very close to midtown. It is really great for the price you pay.

Swiss 1291 has an excellent location. You can easily walk to Times square, Rockefeller plaza and Central Park in less than 10 minutes. It is also close (about 3 blocks) to the subway of you want to catch a the subway to the JFK airport.

Hi again guys. In fact, better than a simple evaluation in your site, my best answer is: I comes from Moscow (I am Russian) this afternoon and I will book with the same hostel AGAIN. What do you like as a better evaluation????!! See ya later...

Our stay was great, we stayed in the purple room and we enjoyed it. We would stay there again in a heartbeat. The staff was very friendly. Place was old but as clean as it could get for the age.

This was a last min booking and it was a good call. The only 2 problems with the hostel were the 10% charge for paying via CC and no breakfast

after reading some of the reviews, i was a bit concerned about staying there, but decided to stay there as location was very good, i had no concerns about the hostel once arrived! the girl on reception was very friendly and helpful(sarah i believe?) as were the rest of staff throughout my stay! The only down fall was that it was not very sociable as every one keeps to them self!but on the whole very good! definateley stay here if looking for good loacation and cheap stay?

Reading the other reviews of this hostel I was really hesitant to stay. My boyfriend and I only booked for one night. But when we got there we were greeted with friendly staff and a colorful decor. This building is old and run-down. But this is New York! You can't expect luxury in central New York for such a low price; we thought it made it more of a genuine experience. We ended up staying here our entire trip. The location was EXCELLENT. We walked to most of our destinations. Would stay again.

4 of my mates booked the hostel on hostelworld telling the hostel we had a late check in time of 1am. However when we got to the hostel no one was there to let us in. We tried calling the number listed for late check-ins however no one answered the number. Luckily someone in the hostel was there so we got into the hostel and slept in the common room. The owner found us the next morning and was appologetic about the whole thing after we paid him 20 bucks to sleep on his couch...not recommended.

The appartment had a great view of the city and was located really close to Time Square and Central Park. Great staff and great roommates, would definitely go back.

Had a bad experience there. The hostel in general is very old and poorly maintained. The shared showers on my floor didn't work. The Internet didn't work most of the time. The place is not clean and the lobby room had a terrible smell.
