I was very surprised with the hostel because it was much better than I had thought it would be!! The location is great, real close to Times Square, the staff are nice, and the door that i stayed in was furnished really good, it was lovely. The best location, just 7 minutes away from Times Square. The bed in the 6-shared room is very confortable, linen and towel for free, the mood was really good, I happened to make some good friends. A good and clean bathroom inside the suite, with hot water, Also a kitchen with a freezer. Free wi-fi inside the room. What else could you ask? I had a wonderful time, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back to Swiss 1291.The best location, just 7 minutes away from Times Square. The room was quite small and a bit smelly, on the second day they took away the AC without prior notice saying it was not necessary anymore. Although we have booked in a 6 person room for three nights the staff have added an extra bed and a corresponding extra person without our consent and in fact against our objection )as the room became very crowded and the bathroom waiting list long..). Walking distance from many attractions & 4 blocks from subway. If use credit card, Swiss adds 5% surcharge to total bill. 2 credit card companies said this goes against their retailer agreement. Use cash or traveler's checks. Room had AC, but it felt more like a fan-couldnt blow past 3 feet. Hard to sleep through a week of humid summer nights. No bed bugs. Also, everyone on 1 floor shared 1 bathroom-that didnt have a sink. Made me wonder what was on shower faucet and doorknob.Walking distance from many attractions & 4 blocks from subway. Mattress was straight on floor (did receive a discount), floor dirty, room covered in dust and mould, shared bathroom had a water leak in the ceiling (downstairs bathroom roof collapsed because of it). The water in our shared shower did not drain away, if you were unlucky enough to have shower up to half an hour after someone else, you had to shower in their dirty water.
