I enjoyed my stay in this hostel although I spent only 2 days there. The location is good and the room I stayed was clean and cosy. Nothing to complain about, I would stay in this hostel again. The only thing is that the breakfast was served from 7.30 which I think is a bit too late as I went on a full-day tour and by being picked up at 7.15 I didn' t get to have breakfast although it was included in the price.

Always a good time at Sydney Central Backpackers! Nice view from the rooftop, next door to Kings Cross and close to Coles and Woolis -

Clean well looked after hostel, bathrooms cleaned twice a day. Lovely roof top open for drinking, BBQing with awesome views of the city. Friendly possitive atomosphere and well presented staff. Kitchen is a bit small but the other parts of the hostel easily make up for it.

The room I stayed in was disgusting - the girls in it had clearly been there for a while and it was a mess. I was supposed to stay for 3 nights but cancelled the rest of my stay after my first night. When I lifted my rucksack from the floor of my room, a cockroach the size of my thumb crawled from under it. The shower I used didn't work - it basically dribbled on my head. I will definitely not be going back.

The hostel description is quite misleading. We were expecting a more quiet hostel, closer to downtown (as the name suggests), and next to the botanical gardens. It was none of these things. It was fine if you want to party in Kings Cross, but they should advertise it as such.

With little exception, the staff were neither friendly nor helpful. Although the hostel advertises itself as a resource for activity planning and booking, not a single staff member I spoke with was able to provide any helpful information or recommendations. The cooking area was very dirty; the handtowels that were there for clients to dry dishes with were covered in food residue. We never saw soap or hand towels in our washroom. The smell of mildew was *very* prevalent. Very slow, pricy Wifi.

The bathrooms are dirty and smell bad... and the kitchen (besides being dirty) is too small for all the people that stay there. I woud not recommend it.

The location in Kings Cross is nice for going out and having some food. The city is about a 20 min walk away. The rooftop terrace is amazing, you can see the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The staff were friendly and very helpful. My 3 bed dorm was very small but we had a fridge. I did not use the kitchen but it looked okay.

The hostel has very strict rules, but they are not followed by some Guests and those guests don't face any consequences. You should be more strict on those rules (like smoking in rooms for instance)
