I really enjoyed the hostel. i got along really well with the other girls in my dorm and had great cinema, BBQs, tours and other fun and free things Sydney Central YHA offered. The security was great, My locker was big enough to fit my bag as well as my suitcase, I never had to wait for a shower and they were always hot! 24 hour security was great, especially as i had to leave at 4:30am. I will definitely come back and stay again. Good Tip: In Cafe down stairs is cheap, good portions and Yummy!

Not really a fan of YHA's now! I don't know why people rave about them! You can't even store your bags for 30 minutes if you're checking out, you have to pay! Rip off! Costs way too much for what you get. Rooms are not clean, toilets are SO small if you're not 30kgs you'll have trouble with them. Staff were not helpful at all.

Excellent location, but thats about all really. Our room had old food still left on the floor, towels provided were inadequate, room was freezing at night, so more blankets would be appreciated next time.

Great central location. Hostel itself is very large with loads of space. Large kitchen and a good mix of young and older travellers. Only stayed the one night as it was fully booked out, but would have stayed longer if possible. Kitchen facilities excellent and enough space for all. Showers were also really modern and good.

Felt very safe and welcomed there. Was a central location ideally located a few steps from the train stop. I thought it was a little expensive for what you got, and though clean, it did have a slight sour smell in the hallways, but the rooms and bathrooms were perfectly clean. would stay again.

I have stayed here half a dozen times, and the value proposition (for double private rooms anyway) is exceptional. To get a room in the middle of the city 300m from Central Station for around $130 is great, particularly during peak times like New Year's Eve and Mardi Gras. One problem this time around though - after arriving on a 10pm flight, they still hadn't cleaned my room, which I discovered after heading upstairs. It was just bad luck, but inconvenient nevertheless.

Great location for access to buses, trains and city. Very good cleaning standards. dorms have very large security lockers and rooms were no over crowded as often occurs in city hostels.

I enjoyed my stay, they had a free guided tour around sydney the first day I was there, which was a easy way to meet other travelers if you are on your own. They have movie nights which is nice as well. The hostel is almost to big with so many people, so it dont have the small and cozy atmosphere where you talk to everybody.

The Sydney Central YHA is one of the best hostels you will ever stay in. It is clean, secure, in a fantastic central location and has all the facilities you could want and more (common rooms, kitchens, computers with internet access, pay phone, movie theatre etc)! I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone!

Did not like the way mugs were stored in the kitchen. Top down on a cloth. A good breeding ground for bacteria. Also, I suffer from vertigo and the arrangement of mirrors in the elevator made me feel very dizzy Most backpackers these days provide free wi-fi, but at least your charges are much less than some Scottish hostels I have stayed in. Apart from those few niggles I found the hostel very good.

I stayed at the both hostel, YHA & 790. Cleaness: YHA, Kitchen: 790, Space: YHA is more spacious, 790's building is pretty old. Bathroom: YHA, 790 is not too bad, just need more cleaning, Staffs: 790 really friendly and helpful, always smile. YHA's staffs.. One of the female staff mistook with caclurating the payment. But no apologize. And YHA, I couldn't handle the AC, pretty cold. If you have small budget, recommend 790. Clean and spacious kitchen? YHA...

Yes, this hostel is large, but it's clean and has everything you'll need. You'll share a room with several people, so if noise or light bothers you, bring earplugs and an eye mask. And I didn't think $8 for 24 hours of wifi was that bad (I've paid more)! I found the front desk staff very helpful as well.

Good central location, right next to train station. Very big hostel (eight floors of rooms), but well run, as with all YHA hostels.
