The hostel isn't adequately prepared for cold days. I was staying in a 6-female room and we were all freezing! Heaters were weak and the draft from the windows were a bit unbearable. Other than that uncomfortable situation you pay for what you get -- simple accommodations w/ free breakfast, wifi and towels in a centrally-located area w/ helpful staff. The airport shuttle from the hostel was super helpful and very affordable.

This hostel is run by the nicest guys. We paid 7 euros a night and we got yummy turkish free breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and flexible with checkout when we needed it. It sucked that the heater did not effectively heat the room in snowy weather but there were more blankets, it was just a bit too cold but we were still able to sleep so it depends on how prissy you are. This has been one of my favourite hostels i've stayed in. Highly recommend it

if you're looking for a cheap hostel, no matter what, then this is THE place to go.. BUT as a single Asian traveling, the haggling around the hostel can be a bit too much. A Turkish guy (claiming to own a silk store) helped me find the hostel (pretending not knowing where it was), but the next morning, he was actually staying in the hostel.. good thing though is the people there are mostly budget travelers who tend to stay for a while longer, so you can get some travel tips from them..

My stay in Istanbul was memorable because of Sydney Hostel. The personable management went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and happy. The rooftop terrace is a great place to meet people and share a brew or two.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We came unexpected eraleir- in the middle of the night, arround 5.00am and did not have any reservation for that night. The friednly reception guy offered us a cheap bed for teh rest of the night. Next day we were late for the breakfast but got some.

It's a very nice hostel and very near to all the famous sight. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is for a hostel good and you have a beautiful view on the sea while breakfast. If you look for a cosy and nice hostel, than you should choose this.

a bit grimy but close to Aya Sopia. Breakfast wasn't much (basically bread and tea), but it was included in the price, so I can't complain too much.

Great location. Generally really good, helpful staff. Stayed in a private 4 bed room where the room was cramped and bathroom was small and shower annoying but great value for money and really comfortable beds with our own balcony. There was another, good shower down the hall we used too. I would definitely stay there again - it was more like a hotel then a hostel for us.

The bathroom was fairly dirty & so was the bedroom. When I arrived the floors obviously hadn't been cleaned for some time, the bin was overflowing and I have my doubts about whether all the sheets were changed. It was very noisy on a night and the room was very small for 7 people. However it was lovely and warm, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was ok and it was very close to all the main sites.

The room is very dirty, clean it maybe once a year, the shower is leaking, in each corner of the ceiling has a spider web. The staff is very attentive and kind .... The breakfast was good, location is excellent. It´s difficult to properly clean a room when check out is at 11 and check in at 11 and 30 hours, 30 minutes it is impossible to clean. .A common area is good and has a great terrace with beautiful view of the Sea of Marmara.

I warmly recommend Sydney Hostel, and of course this is where I'll be staying for my next trip to Istanbul. PS: they thaught me a fantastic card game called pichté, you should try it ! The hostel is located in a very nice area. But it lucks of the faminine care for the cleanliness and unfortunately the bathroom is not ventilated so that smells. I donnot know if this is fixable. In generally I found the price per night overvalued by person.
