This place is strange - clean, tidy, nicely decorated, relatively easy to find (we walked from the bus station) BUT there was no receptionist (we were let in by a fellow guest, and only saw the girl for 2 hours over 2 days), the place is tiny (just 2 rooms and a toilet and shower) and no kitchen (just a kettle and microwave in a dorm). They tried to register us for free. Tomsk was freezing, difficult to get to, not a lot to see so this may have coloured our impression.

The woman at Taiga was incredibly rude. We arrived at our stated arrival time, which was just after 7 am. I realize it was early, but we had just comefrom the overnight train. Also, we had stated a 7am arrival when remade the booking. It was dark and -15 degrees and she wouldn't even let us in hostel. We asked to leave our bags ands she said no and then hung up. Absolutely the worst reception I have forgotten at a hostel. I would not recommend this place to ANYBODY.

Not possible to get to the hostel without calling. No signs even on the building door. Directions send you the wrong way. NOT A HOSTEL. A tiny apartment, cramming 10 beds into two small rooms. A tiny foyer connects the two for the receptionist to sit. No common area. Bring your own towel. NO REAL COOKING FACILITIES. A toaster and microwave don't constitute these. Natalia didnt speak English so I had to go to 8 Floor Hostel for info on Tomsk in English so wasted more hours running around.

A little bit far from town and lacking facilities like a kitchen, however this hostel is easy to find and good value for money.

I woke up to cake on my birthday thanks to the staff at Taiga Hostel. We had train tickets organised quickly and without fuss. The staff had fabulous English and I would happily return for another stay. Cheers!

The hostle had one bath and one shower but it didn't really seem to be a problem. The lack of ventilation on the other hand made it hard to sleep...a fan for the dorm room would have been nice. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

It's Ok if you need a cheap hostel, but don't expect any welcoming or friendly atmosphere. Also nothing is indicated on how to get upstairs once you are in front of the building, just wait for someone to come out or in the door !
