most beautiful, clean hostel I stayed in during my 7 weeks in new zealand. loved the charme of the house, the single beds (no bunks!), the location right next to the river, the bike i rent for free (!), the lovely garden and the very friendly and helpful staff. thank you! :)

I had a lovely stay at the Tamara Lodge, it was one of my favourite hostels in New Zealand. The staff are super, very helpful, the kitchen is clean and has a nice layout including the cupboards have pots and pans / plates painted on, handy to find everything. The free loan bikes are great, the huge garden is fantastic with hammocks and even a big trampoline! The location is the closest backpackers to town. Gorgeous period building overlooking the river, spacious communal rooms, recommended!!
