Lovely and friendly hostel just a short 5 min walk into central Nelson. Round the corner from a fantastic little bar with excellent craft beers. Everyone gathers for the free chocolate cake and ice-cream and the evening quickly becomes a fun social time!

I can really recommend this hostel as it was one of the cosiest hostels I have ever been to and the free breakfast and chocolate cake in autumn is just great! Overall I would say the hostel is very clean. Only minus - there is no TV room.

Without a doubt the best hostel I've stayed at. Awesome atmosphere, super cozy and friendly, great staff and just an overall great vibe. Free chocolate pudding and breakfast just made it even better. Highly recommended!

Hi, our sincere apologies. You were indeed very unlucky which we regret a lot. We did take measures before you arrived, and have done so again, however Murphy's law did strike which made for an unpleasant start of your stay. Again our apologies. We usually have a great track record but this doesn't means things will never go wrong.

Tasman Bay Backpackers is the perfect place to relax and get a good sleep in Nelson. It is located just off the core downtown streets, making it a little quieter and allowing for more outdoor space to enjoy. If you're looking for a place to chill out and meet cool people, either over a beer or the nightly hot chocolate pudding, this is the place to go. However, if you're looking to party hard, I'd suggest going elsewhere.

Friendly and helpful staffs, lovely garden, super yummy free ice cream with hot chocolate pudding, clean rooms, very comfy bed , adorable backpackers, that's all the reason why I choose this backpackers again after my last stayed about five years ago and it doesnt disappoint me. Will strongly recommend this backpackers to my friends if they are visiting Nelson. P.s: my sister even said the free dessert provided fromTasman Bay Backpackers was the main point of visiting Nelson.

Equidistant from Nelson CBD and many parks and walking trails. In the suburbs, so quiet. Not sure if Naked Bus picks up at Paradiso, just a little down Weka Street, every morning, but it's certainly closer than the I-Site is. The free pudding is awesome!

It's a good place to stay. Clean and a roof over your head. Guy at reception was not overly friendly but not unfriendly either - just not very talkative... About 15 min walk into the town centre.

Loved my stay here! Ulli, one of the owners, was actually at the bus depot to pick up guests who arrived by bus, which was a plus as I had no idea where it was located, which was a distance from the depot. So quite happy with the ride in. The other plus was chocolate pudding and ice cream every night! Missed it the 1st night but made sure I was there the 2nd night. All in a pleasant stay. Will definitely stay there again if I make it back to nelson.

A peaceful, but good sprited stay. Just that the chocolate pudding ran out before me and my friends got any... So some development potential in rationing!

Advertised breakfast was a no-show. Put an extra person in our room, though that got sorted by 8 p.m. The pudding is excellent.

The winter breakfast we include runs from May to Nov. This is how it is advertised. However, we do understand that your expection was for this to be included, and we're genuinely sorry that this wasn't the case. We hope that nevertheless you enjoyed your stay at our hostel.

Such a cute and cozy hostel! Really enjoyed our stay :) A lot of character, and the staff was fabulous, always helpful and kind. The free chocolate pudding each night was delicious (and bad for your figure!) :) Location ok, seeing as Nelson isn't that big.. The crowd at the hostel was really versatile; families, couples, small groups, so we met some nice people while staying here. Warmly recommended, a clean and characteristic hostel, good value for money! :) (and try the eco wine tour, fab!)
