About

Our Travellers hostel is a friendly place - it's spacious, clean and homely. Everyone says it has a nice feel to it.

All year round we have free, delicious, homemade hot chocolate pudding and ice cream served every night at 8pm. In winter there is a log fire, hot water bottles, warm duvets. We have a large selection of doubles, twins, small dorms and six share dorms.

Outside you'll find a well-used hammocks and plenty of outdoor spaces to be as social or quiet as you wish.

We have limited off-street parking, free parking on the street, and free luggage storage.

Just like your favourite cafe, we have great music (often because of guests who use the guitars & ukelele) and friendly, genuine people. We're just five minutes' walk from the main street - far enough away to avoid city noise but close enough that it's an easy walk to shops, cafes, etc. We attract a wide variety of nationalities and ages and we try to ensure that everyone feels welcome and enjoys their stay. Being a Backpackers we are not 5 star accommodation - our walls are not the thickest but the welcome will be friendly and the atmosphere caring and happy.

We are open 8.30am - 12.30pm and 3.30pm - 8pm. If you arrive during the day when the office is closed please make yourself 'at home' until we get back.
Note - if you arrive later than 8pm please contact us to organise a late check-in (our office closes at 8pm)

If you're aim is a cozy place to meet people, this is the place for you. The communal area has a bunch of couches, games, and instruments and the space really encourages you to get comfy and open up to other Travellers. Great. They also ha e a wood stove and serve free chocolate pudding n ice cream at 8 (from 8 till 9 they say no phones in the communal space to get people interacting, which is grrat!).

Tasman Bay is easily the best hostel I’ve stayed at in NZ! The vibes are great, it’s clean and cozy and everyone I met was really lovely. Nelson is so cute and really fun to explore, and pretty much everything was within easy walking distance, which was great :)

Genuinely perfect. A great mix of social and laidback, tonnes of books and games, nice rooms, quiet spot, big kitchen, lovely staff. I stayed the night before and the night after walking the Abel Tasman and it was the perfect place for that. They even held onto my bags.
