Helpful staff and good location. Shangrila is a big construction site, not a lot to see and do. Great Little Potala Palace and nature around Shangrila. Great Tibetan food! Nice hostel with great yak burger! You have to try that!
One of the greatest hostels in the old town. Hot water is running 24 hours and each bed has electronic blanket which are quite important points for staying in Shangri-la. Friendly and helpful owner. Willing to give you information about sightseeing places and tours. He owns a korean restaurant. I would recommend to try spicy yak meat stew. The best one.
The owner was very kind. They have the pick-up service for customer. You can book every ticket from her. The room is nice and clean. Her Korean husband can cook very delicious Korean dishes. But they only have 2 bathrooms so sometimes you have to wait for take a shower in the morning.
I had a great stay at Tavern 47. Located in the old town, this place has a lot of atmosphere. Rooms were very comfortable (with electric blankets!) and good western food downstairs. The hostel also arranged value for money tours to sights near Shangri-la. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back again!
best take a taxi to the hostel. Located in/near old part of town. Electric blankets provided - necessary haha. Had bikes for rent. Lockers available. Nice hostel! :)
This place had a great atmosphere, with the communal area around an old burner type fire. The dorm rooms were really spacious and they served up great food !
If you stay in Shangri-La Tavern 47 is the place to be. A very nice hostel in the middle of the old town. The lobby area with it's cozy oven is fabulous and a good place to talk with the owner or meet other travellers. The owner is extremely freindly and helpful for giving travel information - he also owns a nice and delicous korean restaurant in the old town, you should try it, definately worth a visit.
Jun & Co are the folks you want to feel good in Shangri-La. Expect to meet more Korean folks than Han or Tibetan even. Good habitation, food, suggestion for onward connection. Very relaxed - especially having come from the hick-hick backroads of Western Sichuan. You are in good hands here. Food good too. I reckon that Koreans & Tibetans get on here. And good for us too: most folk appear to be happy enough. As a guest from any country, this is not exactly paradise Yet it is well well pleasant.
