really nice Tibetan-style hostel. The owners are awesome, really helpful and friendly. Good place to relax and visit Shangri-La and it surroundings, google place to socialize with other guests with a beer, Wifi works quite well, electric blankets provided. Totally recommend this place.
Very good hostel. The owner was very helpful and very nice. He helped us plan our activities considering the limited time we had. Clean room and hot shower. Great choice! Yak meat and Yak milk yoghurt!
The hostel id owned by a friendly Korean/Naxi couple and located 30 seconds to the burnt city. Try the exquisite Yak burger !

All the beds have electric blankets, that's very important coz even in so called "spring" time (mid-April), the night time temperature is low single digits celcius!
Tavern 47 is a lovely Tibetan style home, with a home feeling. You will be taken good care of with all the advice you could ever possibly need about getting around Yunnan. Jung, the Korean owner, is a trekking guide and knows everything about trekking Tiger leaping gorge and the surrounding area. He can hook you up with private cars, car shares or buses for getting to any surrounding area. Don't worry about planning your trip in too much detail in the areas as Jung will be able help.
Tavern 47, before the fire, would've been the perfect location, but even with the Old District burnt down, it was close to the two temples of the city for sight-seeing. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the food was great (Yak Burgers were great, as well as the morning local porridge, local coffee.. mmm...), the stove was a great way of bringing people together, and the shared bathrooms with hot water were nothing to complain about!!
