We were upgraded by the owner to the Deluxe House - to a nice room really well fitted out. The house is right in the hutong and we enjoyed our stay here. The owner was really helpful and the house courtyard was a nice place to eat and hang out during the evenings. Some really nice touches here.

We had a great stay at Temple Side Hostel 2. Great character and the staff were so helpful. Thank you Templeside!

Really nice atmosphere. Rooms were very clean. Bathrooms smelt slightly of sewage but this was due to the Hutongs old plumbing and the smell was coming up through the shower drain, the bathroom itself was very clean. Emma was an awesome receptionist and very helpful! Bit of an awkward location for cab drivers to find, be sure to print out a map before hand and have the Hutong's phone number handy!

Great room and great service. The rooms were clean and more than adequate for the price. Staff was very helpful as far as locations to visit and getting us a taxi. They let us watch a movie in the lobby area and stored our luggage for a day there when our tours got shifted around. Only complaint is that shower didn't drain so well and bathroom door didn't close all the way, but the latter was easily solved with some heavy luggage :)

We would point out the fact that the personnel was really very nice & we felt really more at friends than in a hotel. Emma is an especially very friendly person who helped us for a lot of things, always smiling.

Although it is nice to stay in the hutong. I found this property overpriced compared to others in Beijing.

Very friendly owner who seemed genuinely interested in what I was doing, even though he's probably talked to people about it a million times. Helped me find various sites around Beijing. I accidentally overstayed one night, but he accommodated me. It was in an old Hutong neighborhood, which is very very cool. Met some really nice guests here. Only downside is a so-so internet connection, but that seems to be the norm for China. If you're going to Beijing, STAY HERE!

it was a great traditional beijing hutong, the decorations and style really feel like i'm living in the old Beijing. The hostel staff was really nice, and provide us directions of the places we want to go.

This was a unique place to stay with nice people. There was a lot of light pollution into the room at night despite the curtains and a ton of drafts due to bad sealing. The combination of that and bad heater placement made it a very cold place to stay, but otherwise it was very nice. The booklet of suggestions in the room had a lot of great information too.

Great character, including the surrounding hutong neighborhood. Good staff and they often have parties. Although the heaters work well, rooms can be a little drafty in the winter. The room eventually warmed up, but the bathroom was a bit chilly. Worth it to stay in an old hutong, imo. Also, a bit of a walk to the metro (15 min). Overall, a good, affordable choice with a really special atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Not a party place, but a very peaceful hutong . I enjoyed super good sleeping there (well, except wake up once by Chinese new year firework). The room facilites are quite new, they gave me a free upgrading and I love the room. Even it is a house with courtyard, bthe room is quite warm, two heaters are strong. Hutong is so nice, I love to walk aroung there to see locals spending their new year (dragon) holiday time there...

some friends recomended this hostel to me, then they are right, Templeside hutong is superb. I planned to stay in their house No.1, however that one is closed then I stayed in house 2 , also called Lian Lian (which is owener's little daughter's name, coool, isn't it?). I am lucky because that is just renovated house, all rooms are almost new. I also enjoy a winter discount then great value for sure. The room has double heating, quite warm inside.

I am keen to stay in Beijing's old hutong for a long time, but a bit scare about the winter coldness. To my surprise, this Templeside Lian Lian hutong is quite good. May be because newly refurbishment, every where is clean and new, and most importantly - quite warm in the room. My 4 nights stay there felt very comfortable. The house is absolutely awesome! So beautiful, staff are good to help and very nice, thanks and highly recommended (esp in winter time comparing with other hutong house)

we are lucky to stay in Templeside Lian Lian hutong. It is just after refurbishment and everywhere is shining and new. Bobby, the owner is a nice guy and he told us the room price will keep same in winter time, even it is upgraded. All room has private bathroom ( l like that bathroom) , and the heater is bravo! Not like other hutong hostel, here is very warm ( at least inside the room) . Wifi internet is for free and working perfect! The common area is full of taste, also my love!

a very peaceful hutong house, not a party place (even we had a very good free dumping dinner together with host) but perfect for relax and enjoy Beijing local culture and local life. Very impressive, highly recommended. Esp. all facilities are quite new and much better than some old hostels. Location is good, only 30 mins to Tian AN Men, 10 mins to metro (regarding Beijing city size) and there are a bunch of buses nearby. The dinning restaurants are wonderful, Beijing duck etc
