We booked our room because of the good reviews, but as we arrived we weren’t happy. It was dirty and musty. The staff didn't care about us. We just took a shower and started visiting Chiang Mai, which is really a lovely city with a lot of gorgeous opportunities. While walking around we decided to move to another hostel without spending a night in our room at the Thapae Gate Lodge. The staff didn’t ask us, why we are leaving so quickly. They didn’t even say goodbye. We paid the room already!
Great hostel! There is a restaurant attached which has amazing food which is extremely convenient. The rooms are very clean and have everything you need.
Well located and reasonably nice facilities. Not the cheapest budget option, but the double room with AC we booked was clean, well furnished and quite comfortable. Pricing was just right for the accommodations. The staff was friendly for the most part, but nothing extraordinary. Very much a come-and-go-and-keep-to-yourself sort of place, but for some that's ideal. The real clincher about this place is the restaurant on the ground floor. Excellent food options! We ate here quite a bit.
The best breakfast menu in all of Chiang Mai. Good value for money, seeing as you get a clean room with a strong fan and a bathroom with hot and cold shower. Staff is friendly but not really good salespeople. We tried asking about trekking trips and they showed us brochures, but didn't really care if we bought anything or not. Price for trekking was also higher than if you went to a local travel agency.
Nice place, very good location, excellent value for money. They serve amazing breakfast in their restaurant, you have to try it. Lovely lounge serving drinks where you can relax at any time of the day.
Nice hostel. The location is great, right on the edge of the Old Town, close to the Temples, restaurants and local food stalls. It's about a 15 minute walk to The Night Bazaar. There was a slight problem with water in our room but the owner kindly let us change rooms- the place is really good and staff very nice, we ended up staying 3 extra nights. There's also good wifi and a very comfortable lounge area to surf internet, read a book or simply enjoy a drink (the bar is open until late).
