Good location if you want to hang out in the centre of Auckland (although there's not much to do!). Staff were very nonchalant and didn't really put any effort into customer service. Good security. Hostel itself feels very 'clinical' - barely any character. You might think that would make it a clean place, but the male bathrooms were pretty shoddily cleaned. Wifi and kitchen are great. All in all: a good place to stay if you're in a hurry, but don't bother if you're looking for a homely hostel.
Great place. I've stayed at Base Auckland and the Brown Kiwi and the Attic is better than both! This is a quieter, more friendly atmosphere with a great location, and everyone I met was super nice. They also have the nicest bathrooms and showers of any hostel I've stayed in around the world (well over 10). Also, the elevator is cool and the rooftop patio is pretty nifty.

After spending 3 weeks in a campervan Attic backpackers was just what I needed. It was friendly, homely and clean. Great value for money!
We found it a pleasant place to stay at the end of our month-long campervan trip around NZ. The highlight is that it's right in the middle of downtown, near lots of restaurants, and walking distance to most of the not terribly many things to do in Auckland. Highly recommend getting out and seeing the rest of NZ too.
Perfect location just off queens st. Great staff and really clean throughout, the kitchen is big and tidy and the outdoor terrace and tv rooms are really good for socialising. I would definitely stay here if I was in Auckland again. The only thing was that it gets really hot at night but you get the street noise if you open the windows. Also the wifi I thought was too expensive (20$) 3 days.
Probably the best hostel I stayed in, in Nee Zealand! The staff are super friendly and happy to answer any questions. The kitchen is nice and big and clean and the same with the rooms. The old style lift into the building is super cool not annoying like others have said.
Dorms were pretty spacious, kitchen was big enough, not a huge amount of common space. Would have been a great stay if the bathrooms were cleaner, they were pretty filthy. Good location in the CBD, need a code to get through both doors at night. The elevator is ancient and can be a nuisance.
Only issue was the wifi was slow for how expensive it was
Very clean and nice. I like them kitchen very much. Is best choice for me, but wifi just 3hour only whatever we stay how many day.
Outstanding hostel. Free 3 hours of internet
Nicest hostel in Aucklands CBD :)
Really nice hostel, great atmosphere, really clean and friendly staff wifi is a bit expensive though, but you have 3hours for free
Hidden treasure in Auckland. Very clean and organized hostel; rooms are large and comfortable, and quite silent. There is a locker room with camera, laundry room, a big kitchen, TV and leisure rooms and a terrace. It's located in the back of a building, so there is very little street noise coming. It's a few blocks away from SkyTower and just beside Queen St. Internet included, but breakfast not. Bathroom and showers located in a large piece. Highly recommended!
Easy to find and very good security. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Great location downtown and close to the airport bus stop. I stayed one night when arriving to Auckland and I enjoyed it so much that I came back for another night before I flew out. I had to pay for wi-fi at most of the hostels I stayed at throughout the country so getting 3 hours of free wi-fi is very nice. The friendly staff contributes to a good atmosphere.
A nice, clean hostel that was very comfortable - the best hostel I stayed in in Auckland. It wasn't in the best location, but it was in the city. Was given free use of a computer which was a first in NZ! I'd stay there again, nice place
Booked for three nights. However, had to change room everyday. Checking out from 9:45am and checking in at 1pm. Its unusual when you have to check out have to hang out somewhere to then check in again and not get another password for the wifi which is given for a 3 hours use for free. Not considering if you're booked for one or ten days. Only one lift without automatic door where people forget to shut it and you have to climb up or down 5 storeys.
I stayed 2night here. I wanted to check out early but I couldn't explain it because I am Japanese. But staff was bery kind to me.

Cool spot in the city. Location was perfect. Good facilities.
It wasn't anything that was above and beyond, nothing special. I good, clean place to rest your head and peaceful. It lacked a sense of community and the staff weren't forthcoming with assistance. You nearly hadto drag information out of them.
