I loved the atmosphere here and made a lot of friends - meeting people in the Attic was one of the highlights of being in Auckland.
One of the nicest hostels I've stayed at in New Zealand! It's very chilled so if you're looking for a party atmosphere this isn't the right hostel for you but if you want to relax and keep things low key then this is a great choice.

This is one of my favorite hostels I've stayed in! It definitely deserves a higher rating than it has. Everyone staying there had just arrived on a working holiday visa so it's a good place to start if you're here to work. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the location was very central.
The hostel is great and I would come back, but they should pay attention that sometimes the female bathroom is way cold and also the water in the showers sometimes were not warm enough and also get completely cold in the middle of your shower.
The Attic was ok, but I don't think I'd stay again. They start charging you for extra things the moment you check in and the girl who checked me in got kind of nasty with me when I questioned it. Nothing in this hostel is free, even the blankets. To be fair, there was some pretty great staff (minus the girl that checked me in), but overall I was left with a "money grubbing" feel from this hostel.
Coldest room that we have stayed in during the trip however warmest and comfiest beds. Good lounge and pay for wifi was speedy
Nice and clean hostel with very friendly staff who where really helpful with booking tours for my (without adding a booking fee). Location is good, a bit noisy but it is in the middle of the city so thats just how it is. It was relatively cold in the rooms and facilities, you can get an extra blanket for free so be sure to get that!
The hostel is in a great location in the center of the city and the staff was really friendly and helpful. The facilities are pretty clean. This is a busy hostel with people partying and working so be prepared to have people coming and going in a dorm room in the night and early morning.
Really good hostel with very friendly staff who know their stuff. Very relaxed atmosphere. All in all very impressed and would recommend to anyone.

Best feature about this hostel is being right at the city centre. You have many attractions nearby. Hostel has friendly staff, good kitchen and a lovely outdoors area (right next to kitchen). My room was too cold, and no extra blanket or heater available, finding a hot shower (winter season) was hard, although toilet has a good size and only hostel I've seen with hairdryer, and I could hear noise from the streets in my room.
Great hostel, great location on Wellesley St. very near Queen St. Around the corner from restaurants, a good coffee shop, and Elliot Stables. The place is clean and comfortable. No lockers in the room, but plenty of small lockers down the hall. The staff also lets you store your bags in a locked room while you're out for the day. Three free hours of WiFi, plenty if you are out doing things instead of holed up in your room. Staff was friendly and helped with travel ideas and setting up tours.
plus: big supermarket nearby, staff helpful and friendly, you can book tours here, rooms spacious, free food shelf, great roof top terrace, 30 min of free internet, great Irish Pub right next door minus: no heating! (it was freezing in the rooms and bathrooms), no lockers, in the winter it was really quiet, reception closed midnight to 8am, so if you leave early make sure you get your key deposit back! internet really slow
Good, clean hotel. Great location. Great staff. It's a good place to stay regardless of if you want to party or if you need to get some sleep.
I stayed at the attic for four nights! Staff was very friendly, the location was great! I stayed at a mixed 10 bed dorm which made it very easy to meet new people. Highly recommend to stay there if you are in Auckland!
Really friendly, helpful staff. They gave great advice for things to do in Aukland and Waihike Island. We only stayed one night but would have liked to stay longer!
I would highly recommend this hostel as it is clean and spacious. The staff are also very friendly and happy to help.
Great place. Only comment is that most people there are long-term. Thus, a different mind set. Great place though.
Best location ever and really clean facilities. The staff was helpful, but not especially friendly... so not a complaint from my side really. Would not consider other hostels if I needed to stay in Auckland again!
I love the Attic! It's in the centre of Auckland only minutes away from all the important spots. The staff was is lovely and always very helpful. The facilities are in good shape and everything was clean and tidy. Great stuff!
Little cold in July but could ask for extra blankets. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great facilities. Nice atmosphere. Modern warm decorating. Would recommend.
