My stay here was absolutely amazing! I couldn't have stayed in a better hostile. I was here for about a week and a half and it was one of the best weeks of my life. The hostile is clean, beautiful, and very safe. Both the people that stay there and the people that work there are so awesome, nice, and welcoming. Hang out at the bar at night- it helps you to meet people! Seriously, stay here, you won't regret it.

I've been staying at The Backpack for years, and have always been impressed by the little extra touches in their facilities that make the difference between "adequate" and "just as comfortable as a mainstream hotel." Add to that the character, the convenience and safety of the cafe/bar area, the excellent staff, the monitored parking lot, and the location, and you have a true winner. I have a hard time imagining voluntarily staying anywhere else in Cape Town.

cwas really looking forward to this hostel but was really disappointed. The staf were unhelpful and as for a travel centre, they didnt help me at all with trips it was like getting blood out of a stne for answers. No charater what so ever and tried to spend a slittle time as possible in the hostel. On a nic note the beds were comfy and we met some nice people in our dorm

What a great place! Definitely a hostel with a vision, and NOT looking only to make some money off tourists cheaply.

Great stay. A little pricy compared to other places, but you get what you pay for. Shark diving is a MUST!

A place to recommend to my fellow colleagues and friends visiting Cape Town. Do you have other places in Johannesburg as I normally take students from Kenya atleast three times to South Africa, and thats the ideal accommodation I would like for them.

Only complaint was our room was near the communal toilets and showers and early morning users didn't seem to realize there were sleeping rooms in the same area. Woke up each morning at 5 am to slamming doors and loud voices. Room was small, but plenty of other areas to lounge and relax. Fascinating place.

'The Backpack Hostel' was absolutely fantastic!! The staff were fantastic; so helpful and nice. They gave us a tour when we came to check in and gave many recommendations on what to do in Cape Town. The cleaning staff did an excellent job and the bar tender Lucas was hilarious and very nice. The location is great! 5 minute walk to Long street and walking distance to the V&A waterfront. The bathrooms were always cleaned and they offered fresh towels everyday. I HIGHLY recommend the Township Tour!

I LOVED my stay at the Backpack. The rooms were of great value for the price, the setting was beautiful (amazing view of Table Mountain), but the best part was the staff. They were helpful, extremely nice, and easy to get along with.

My second stay. Very friendly and helpful, but a bit expensive for a backpackers. 14 Rand for a cup of tea. A bit high. But I loved it

I liked it very much! I felt very comfortable and really enjoyed my stay at The Backpack. I visited the Cape Town on Easter so the city was deserted and many attractions closed. Staying at The Backpack contributed a lot in making my stay more enjoyable (nice staff, nice guests, nice environment).

What an amazing hostel, I wouldn't even call it a hostel. They have thought of everything. The bedding was clean and soft, rooms were cleaned daily, pillows were perfect, individual lights above the beds, fan in the room. The staff was lovely and helpful, even cold water on the counter when we arrived all hot. The cafe serves delicious food. Its in a great location. I would totally stay here again and recommend it to everyone. I felt safe and cared for. A home away from home!
