If you want to spend some days close to the ocean in a very beautiful place it's perfect. But if you want to meet many travellers, you should chose another hostel. It's a very beautiful and clean hostel with a very nice staff and delicious dinner, where you can meet the other guests.

i thought it was a wonderful experience staying there at The Bananas. We are staying in a high rise building back home and to be able to live in a "kampong" style environment is great.

So cool. Staff was sooo helpful and i still have dreams about the food. Great location too, not too far from krabi but far enough.

Overall nice place in a beautiful countryside. Nice view on the dock low tide and high tide, all sorts of cool wildlife. 600 baht for a 20 minute taxi ride from the main pier is much too expensive. Didn't appreciate to be told 3 times to "wait 5 minutes" when asking a simple question or being told "do you mind if I eat now" when trying to strike up a pleasant friendly conversation in the common dining area. Wifi never switched on. Young, pretty waitress not friendly at all, never said a word.

It was definitely the best choice to leave Phuket and the mass tourism to go to this beautiful place!Looking back at our trip we still think that the days at this place were the best time we had.The bamboo houses are really charming, but also clean and comfortable. You have to take only few steps to get to the water, when water is low you can make long walks into the sunset, at night you can swim in the glittering water. The staff is very nice. This all added to a good atmosphere!Manu and Marieke

Totally recommend it (unless nature and insect are not part of your vocabulary). Reaching the place by bus is a challenge. If the bus driver ask for 600 Baht, you're not on the right track. It leaves close to the bus station and costs 100B. Go kayaking in the mangrove, it's cool to do. Food in the evening is great. Morning and afternoon: so-so. Great place for landscape photography and for wildlife lovers. Ideal for whoever wants to improve his/her German.

Quirky place with an eccentric German owner, but very idyllic. Perfect place to get away from tourism and do absolutely nothing. Or spend days on trips visiting islands, nearby beaches, kayaking... enough to do if you want! Don' t expect "beachfront". It's seafront though... Had a lovely time. Met great people during communal dinner and would definitely recommend it. Place could be a bit cleaner! Staff is very friendly but not very active. :)

The place looks very good, the pier they build is amazing and the view from it is amazing. But the atmosphere was really strang. The average guest was older then I thought. This isn't the place to meet young backpackers... or any backpackers. Not for solo travellers. The food was good. The staff, well, the owner was friendly. But the all the other staff was not. I wanted a cab to get to Krabi center and the owner was out. The staff from the kitchen didn't want to help me and just laughed at me.

Would definitely stay here again. A great place to relax and the food is excellent and cheap. Not a good place for nightlife, but we knew that before we booked it. Make sure you go to the secret beach! It is gorgeous! Ride a bike or take a motorbike if you go there. It is a longer walk than they say, and there is a huge hill.

It is far away from everything, so you are pretty much dependent on the hostel for food and activities. Fun if you want to get away for awhile!

Staying at the bananas after one night in Aonang in a 30-person dorm was like heaven. You should know that "the bananas" is quite far away from town, so it's quiet here, for some people maybe too quiet. But you can do many things, like island day-trips or kayaking or just discovering the near beaches, where you will be the only person at. Olli (the owner of this paradise) is such a friendly person as well as his hole stuff. If you want to relax and feel the real Thailand, you should come here!!

We had a very pleasant stay with Olli in the Bananas. If you don't like big tourist area of thailand, then this is the place! We reached there from krabi Airport by taxi ,which is about 25 minutes drives and quite simple to find out. We recommend the secret beach (2Km away) for its quietness and the spectacular view on the whole Bay from the top of the cliff. Enjoyed as well swimming at night from the wood deck in the mangrove in front drinking a few beers....Lovely place to relax.
