We had a nice stay but only for a single night so couldnt get a full appreciation of the place... we were a bit frustrated with the wifi not really working in the common room, then found out it was perfect in the dorm just as we went to bed. Odd! Was very quiet being out of season but the pub attached looked nice too. Kitchen was good and light breakfast provided... hope you like marmalade though hehe. Lucky we byo'd something else. Thanks for having us! James & Zhao

ten hill walkers stayed recently and the friendliness and helpfullness of the owners and staff was second to none. We will definitely stay again and hopefully get better weather! We also had great food in the pub with very generous portions. Lovely part of the country. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality.Terri Finnerty

The Bard's Den was a clean and comfortable accommodation. It's attachment to the pub and restaurant make it an ideal place to stay. It is also located near a reasonable amount of hiking locations. The convenient store is right down the road with snacks, atm, and souvenirs.

We stayed there in November 2011. The hostel was really really dirty (dead fly in the bed, hair in the bed, dusty floor, smelly rooms, stained bedclothes and towels). We were alone and it was really creepy!!! It was very noisy with the wind and the doors banging! We definitely NOT recommend it!

Don't believe what you read on Trip Advisor. This place is great value for money. If your looking for a romantic weekend away this place is not for you - but for us - a lads weekend of cycling , walking and fishing we wouldn't have wished for anything better suited to our needs and budget

Get rid of the dirty carpets and the spiders and slap a coat of paint on the walls and and you'll be the perfect place to explore Connemara! Lovely staff and yummy food at the bar, cosy atmosphere...

At the gates of Connemara, close to Kylemore Abbey. It's a pub as well (but seperated, no noise at night). No locks on the doors, but we felt safe anyway. A really nice girl showed us around when we checked in, but she forgot to mention the pub - and therefore the check-out - is closed until noon on Sundays! This would have been really annoying if we'd been in a rush, even though the owner was really nice as well. We'd paid in the evening if we'd known.
