Property Information:
The hostel is located above our public bar/pub which is one of South London's most popular, vibrant music venues. We often feature bands from all over the world and pride ourselves on our live music entertainment which varries widley in terms of genre and is performed live on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. If you enjoy watching bands, having fun and late nights then this is the hostel for you! If not it may be a bit too noisy for your taste...
The attached bar offers entertainment, including some live music, art exhibitions, comedy, cabaret, film and theatre showings and more. There is also a pool table, and a selection of fine beverages. Free tea and coffee is available to guests 24/7.
It has been said that we are a bit 'scruffy around the edges' but the up side of this is, character, fun, a warm welcome and a non-sterile attitude towards our guests and their stay.
There are close transport links to many of Londons major attractions including The West End, Soho, The London Eye, Canary Wharf, East Londons old dockyards, The 2012 Olympic Stadium and The O2 Arena. There is a 24 hr bus service that stops just outside The Hostel, making The Birds Nest the perfect place to explore London and beyond.
We are also a short train ride away from The Kent countryside, known as Englands Garden.
Local attractions include The Royal Naval College, Greenwich Maritime Museum, The Royal Observatory, The Meridian Line which is the dividing line between the Eastern and Western Hemispheres, St Nicholas Church, aka The Jolly Roger Skull and Crossbones, Goldsmiths University, The Laban Contemporary Dance Centre, The APT Art Gallery and Creekside which is home to SE Londons artistic community, and many green parks including Her Majesty The Queens, Royal Greenwich Park.
The Bird's Nest is an 8 minute train ride from Central London in the heart of South East London's historical maritime community of Deptford, wedged between the scenic Greenwich on the River Thames, and the bustling contemporary cultural centre of New Cross.
Check in times are from 3pm until 7pm. There is a baggage store available for early arrivals who can then adventure out into the city returning to check in at their leisure. Late arrivals should contact the Bird's Nest team 24hours prior to arrival to arrange for an out of hours check in, WE ARE UNABLE TO CHECK IN GUESTS AFTER 11PM. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE CHECK IN ON THE FIRST NIGHT, THE REMAINDER OF THE RESERVATION IS CANCELLED UNLESS WE ARE INFORMED BY TELEPHONE THAT THE BOOKING IS STILL REQUIRED.
We look forward to your arrival. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Bird's Nest team.

Latest Review
Unfortunately we did not read the reviews before booking. The area was very dodgy. Our room was right above the bar which plays very loud music until very late, and a round-a-bout that stays busy all night with loud traffic. Our bed was SO creaky, and when you slept you had springs digging into you back. Internet was bad. The common area was a bed with pillows, a microwave, kettle and fridge. The best part was the tiny shower room had great showers... this place should have been a lot cheaper!
