Advertised as able to use kitchen facilities to cook food which we wanted to do after a late arrival in the evening. Mini oven/grill not very efficient and very little cutlery/plates etc. and no table to eat at. Otherwise room fine and location handy for both going into centre of Southampton and for New Forest.

Professional well run hostel.

Brilliant :)

Excellent service and very comfortable stay. Breakfast was great too! Thank you

Wery good hostel with very convenient location near train station. Breakfast were good, rooms was clean and personal was very nice and helpful.

We were frustrated about the lady staff in the registration counter on the laundry service. She was not able to return the clothes to us as required and charged for 30 pounds (15 pounds each for two families) was very unreasonable. We are very disagreed of what she have made money unreasonably. She behaved very indifferently about our queries and did not response us politely (not rude but refused to talk to us). The service from the staff was substandard. Please rely me in due course.

the price I paid was the highest so far, but I stayed in a singled room and it was on top floor, so there was no noise and the room was very cosy! the kitchen is fully equipped. So you can easily buy frozen foods for a less price dinners. However, if you co not know the area, it is hard to find the location of this place.

Comfortable with good facilities in mainly pristine condition. Individual TV in room; several communal bathrooms; guest kitchens (albeit inconveniently closed at night). Staff are civil, efficient and unintrusive. Breakfast is tasty and plentiful, in genteel restaurant. Location slightly remote, a few miles from central Southampton, but v. near local shops andTotton mainline railway station (albeit not directly opposite entrance as implied in some publicity). Guests closing doors a little noisy.

Walls very thin so could hear everything the occupant of the room next door to mine said/snored/watched on tv. Breakfast inconsistent - large variation in how many hash browns served, how big a serve of baked beans etc

Comfortable, clean, friendly helpful staff, close to village and walk to river, car parking at rear. Delicious breaky thanks

This is a prim-and-proper guesthouse, spotlessly clean, and with full English breakfast included. If you add up all this, it seems to be worth the money, although it is a bit more expensive than a hostel.

Excellent hospitality. Nice people and room. Many thanks to Wendy who cooked breakfast for us whilst it was too late.

The staff were extremely friendly and ready to help whenever the were needed. They even offered to bring me tea or coffee when I checked in. They also include a Full English breakfast which was very nice. The hours for breakfast were a little earlier than other places (7am - 8.30am). But a guest kitchen was also provided for storing and making your own meals. The rooms were also good. Simple but clean and had everything you would need. No downsides aside from it's location being a little far away from main

Not very close to Southampton. Trains didn't run very often. Town doesn't really have anything to do in it. Though the house itself is great if you want to be comfortable and have breakfast.

Nice hotel, helpful staff.

I very much enjoyed my short stay here. The Brimar is clean, very reasonably priced, safe and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The Breakfast served was excellent. The manager, Roy, went out of his way to help me out AFTER I had checked out. Should I be returning to the Southhampton area I will be staying here without a doubt. Highly reccomended.

The place was very clean and comfortable, but it's far from Southampton you need to take a train that goes every hour 10 minutes or a bus that goes every 15 minutes that takes 15 minutes, other than that is a good place to stay.

Nothing too fancy but clean and cosy. Lovely food and good, polite service. Very reasonably priced - wouldn't have classed it as a hostel though.
