This place is awesome, especially for first timers or Americans. Young crowd mostly, right next to some awesome coffee shops and bars. Staff is awesome they help you out a ton. Room was just whatever but the lounge downstairs is sweet. Two thumps way up.

This is a good hostel with an excellent location. Security for bags while waiting for check in is a little sketchy. The bar and lounge are very nice but the music was far far far from my taste. If you like euro dance music you'll love it. Night time staff was grumpy but helpful. Not a bad place for the price.

it was great spend 4 day in bulldog hostel :) it's clean, the staff is polite and friendly. perfect stay in amsterdam. may, the only thing that was not great was that the bed was not very comfortable.

Really in a center point of town..an excellent base point to any direction of Amsterdam!!Friendly atmosphere.

Great location, good value for your money but a bit of a party hostel. Expect people in your dorm to be coming back at all hours

This is the second time I've stayed at the Bulldog and it has always been a great experience. The rooms are cleans and very safe. Highly recommended!

I loved this hostel, but sometimes the staff wasn't very friendly. This is a great place to stay any day of the week or any time of the year because you are in the middle of everything: coffee shops, red light district, Dam Square, etc.

Centrally located, clean bathrooms, bar, adjoined coffeeshop: what more could you want?

Very nice location and atmosphere. Staff , some unfriendly and some friendly, but effective anyhow. Also quite clean. Breakfast was complete, more than I expected.

Located in the Red Light District, but in a very touristic canal street. Bulldog Coffee Shop next door, and smoker's lounge and restaurant on the ground floor. Rooms are spacious, but the only disadvantadge is that dorms are too crowded (12 people). Wifi throughout the hostel, even the rooms, free breakfast and all-in-all the best place to be in Amsterdam!

The 12 bed dorm i stayed in was really big, nice to have room! Lovely hot shower. Nice to have breakfast included. Don't think you could be in a better location, right in the centre 5 minutes from centraal station (tram only a few stops to bus station - i came via mega bus from London) - all too easy! (It would be nice to have access to a kitchen if you would like to self cater - but not everyone would need that and i should have checked before booking).

Great location, noisy bar that is open late downstairs can be convenient or annoying. Poor rooms, very noisy. Would definitely look elsewhere next time.

Booked three nights via Hostelworld but on arrival I was only in the system for 2 nights. Hostelworlds fault they said (after first blaming me despite the confirmation I had in my e-mail). Staff was very rude and unfriendly. The hostel passport is a joke (inefficient and redundant).

Ideal hostel! Great room, great atmoshpere, awesome value. The location is perfect. If you are young and looking to enjoy Amsterdam for a few days this is the place to be.

Our room was very dirty, the beds were dirty and smelt, our carpet obviously only gets vacuumed once a month and is covered in stains. The bathroom was not cleaned everyday- even though we are sharing one shower with 12 people. The staff member that checked us in was less than impressed that we were interrupting her day the only good thing about this hostel is the location- which is fantastic. I would never come back or recommend this hostel.

Not a bad hostel but pretty pricey for what you get. The location and free breakfast were definitely the main things this hostel had going for it.

Everything was PERFECT!

There was an older gentleman working the night shift who got into a short exchange of words with a hostel guest. The employee unnecessarily escalated the argument and was following/baiting the guest into continuing the argument, which would have only ended badly for the guest. Disappointing to see the display of power hunger. Great place otherwise. I've stayed on 5 or 6 previous visits. I may reconsider next time though...

Will only stay here when we're in Amsterdam! You have everything u need with a smile.
