We stayed in an apartment in number 88 I think, and it was perfect as we were close to everything but had mad sanctuary when a bit of chill time was required.

Staff were ok, not much security tbh as anyone could really walk in, the bar area is very good, bedrooms try an opt for an apartment as there much better, we stayed in a 4 persons private which was clean, good pillows and clean towels etc. Best location.

It's was a great abode! It's three in one: a bar, coffee shop and a hostel! We didn't like the lockers. If you are a real traveler, your stuff won't fit in there! Also, they don't provide free padlocks, instead of this, they sell... Compared to others hostels the price is quite high (even for a bedroom with 12 people). We didn't like these parts but overall it worth!

I had a good time staying in this hostel. There was a problem with the light, which a staff could have fixed it without me informing them. But after I told them about it in the morning, they got it fixed by the afternoon before I came back. Thank you about that. There should be an option for female dorm on www.hostelworld.com. There are many women who travel alone and with a female dorm, we just feel more comfortable to stay. My case, my female friend strongly recommended me, so I gave it a try.

Great hospitality, friendly staff that are always willing to help, great food, amazing atmosphere and best of all comfortable beds. Well worth the money and well worth coming back to.

I highly recommend this place! The location is just amazing, the rooms are nice and clean, security is good, and the lounge is great to if you just want to chill out and smoke/drink before you head out. I had nothing to complain about this place, which for someone like me is very, very rare!!

Very good. My friend was suppose to travel with me but had to cancel her trip for family reasons. At first I was hesitant to travel alone but, at Bulldog it was easy to meet people. I met the best brasillian and english people :).

Hostel is very near to all the places in Amsterdam.

The location is great but the staff is not very helpful. The bathrooms are very badly designed because any time you turn on the shower you wet the entire room! The room was not cleaned in four days we stayed there.

This was the WORST place we have ever stayed. Staff treated us like annoyances. They also lied to our faces, offering us a refund, then refusing it the next day after we had booked (and paid for) alternate accommodation - costing us 160EU Euros. This hostel is for young men wanting to party. Dorm shared with such guests was extremely uncomfortable, especially for my 22yr old GF who had to listen to them loudly discuss their paid sexual achievements. In dorm WC was dominated by same boys. AWFUL

This hostel was very clean. It was a nice hostel, I just didn't spend much time actually IN the hostel so I have no complaints. Breakfast is free and you get some vouchers/coupons when you arrive which is nice. Location is right in the Red Light District, so if that is where you want to be - it's among the best.

I had no idea they let the people staying here smoke pot, but not tobacco, in the rooms. That could be a plus or a minus for people traveling to Amsterdam. It was a minus for me. Other than that, I enjoyed everything else about this hostel.

great location, in red light district so close to everything. staff are friendly and helpful. perfect for students or if cheap but good accomodation required, would stay again :)

terrible. bathrooms inside the room, you can hear people farting as if you were right the with them. really dirty, expensive, and just not a good place to spend more than a night. and only if you're desperate

There is no specific area to smoke, so be prepared to get your clothes with ma rrijuana smell

hostel with the oldest coffeeshop in Amsterdam! its really central location in cool Red Lights District

When booking thru hostel world website there was no mention of the lounge bar/cafe being closed . I found out once booked that it was closed but was told that people were still drinking and smoking and partying in the lobby so I accepted this. On arrival tho the lobby was also like a building site and we had to step over tools/machinery and carpet layers who worked on til 1pm !!!! On saying that the hotel's location is fab. Vending machine in the lobby for beer 2 Euros ! Rooms clean.

Such accommodating staff super friendly in a super clean and comfortable place! Loved being a step away from the red lights and all the action and intrigue it brings along with it.

had a very nice stay! the hostel is really clean and the location is in the heart of amsterdam. its not right in the middle of the red light disctrict, so ists kinda safe there.

I was there Oct. 30-31, 2011 for two nights. As a female travelling on her own, i definitely felt safe at this hostel. Unfortunately I found out their communal area/kitchen was under construction when I arrived. They did take 10% off my bill….but was very disappointed. I couldn't even get hot water for tea (i usually bring my own tea bags) for free anywhere…I would have preferred to be notified in advance to checking in as to that change. Location was great and the breakfast was good.
