This is more like a hotel than a hostel. About 15 minutes walk to the beach (so not too close). There is a supermarket close to it. Overall the room was nice and clean. They have laundry service. The price was a bit expensive compared to other hostels in Costa Rica. We were supposed to stay for 4 nights but canceled 2 of them. Did not like Tamarindo at all! If you want a place full of American bars and bad restaurants then that's the place for you, otherwise don't even bother going there!

Chris was nice and mostly helpful, but all the reviews that said this was a quiet hostel were wrong! the people across from us blasted music at all hours of the night. Avoid room #9 at all costs. Cobwebs, bugs, no balcony or natural light.

This hostel has potential, with a pool, decent rooms and good location (5 min walk to town and beach) but is neglected by the staff. The guy at the front desk was very rude, defensive and not helpful as soon as we brought up any minor problem. The facilities were there, but the kitchenette in the room was not working, and neither was the pool. All in all, not the worst stay ever, but the staff definitely did not go out of their way to make our stay special or enjoyable.
