Me and my friend were on a budget so we decided to stay in this hostel. From the the time we made our booking we really know what to expect: in terms of facilities and services. Staying to a hostel means you will not expect any luxurious stay or service. So me and my friend were not disappointed. The hostel met our expectations and the staff were really accommodating. From Mr. So, Shihori and to our tuktuk driver Nean. If given a chance, will definitely stay again to the City Garden Villa.

The staff were super nice and hung out and chatted at the bar in the evening and played pool with me. I had a single room which was clean and comfortable and good value. Only downside is that the hostel is a little bit in the middle of nowhere.

DONT STAY HERE! We booked a twin room specifically because it had air con, they lost our booking (somehow) & had already given the room to someone else. They didnt tell us this until after showing us to a double bed room with just a fan. They picked and choosed when they understood english, when we complained about the room change, they said they would sort it & change it the next day (we were there 4days), they didnt & acted dumb to us asking. Due to humidity & no vent or window in toilet- hot!

Distinctly average. It's cheap and cheerful. Pros: free bikes, clean rooms. Cons: only a baguette for breakfast, no atmosphere at all, book swap only for Japanese books, expensive laundry $2/kg

The hostel was ok, however we booked for a double bed room and instead we got a room with 3 single beds. The staff is nice and friendly, it's a little bit far from the center but is much more quite than the hostels in the pub street. Good value for money.

They overbooked the hostel and lie to us. Had we not had this bad experience it would have been an enjoyable stay in a warm and friendly guest house with a great tv. They gave us a free dinner to make up for the fact they had to put us in a different guest house on the first night.

Sadly upon arriving at the City Garden Villa the room we had booked had been given away. they had us written down in their record books and everything, but for some reason they gave away our room. needless to say my fiancee and i were furious. the staff were polite about everything and apologetic. they refunded our down payment and recommended new placesw to stay. we really had our hearts set on staying here, as it is in a good place in town and has a good atmosphere.

The hostel was a bit of a ways from the busy night life area, but it was still within walking distance (about 20 minutes). Or if you are lazy like me, you can catch a tuk tuk for about a dollar a person one way. The place had a nice vibe to it, but the electricity went out every once in a while, though it didn't usually last too long. It was a comfortable stay, and definitely a great way to go if you want a economic stay.

The city garden villa was fantastic. I stayed here three nights and slept like a baby even without ac. The food is good, the staff are excellent, the rooms were pretty and clean. They have a few tuk tuk drivers on staff who provide optional tours to all of the temples at very reasonable rates. There is a pool at the hotel across the street that you can use for a few dollars, and the location was close enough to walk to pub street and the night markets. Highly recommended!
