I've stayed in a private dark room with no windows. With only an emergency door that would open to a very filthy backyard. The cleanliness of the room was also terrible.

This hostel has so much charm and character that it deserves to be in it's own category of hostels. I slept in a shared dorm and found the room very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is great if you decide to cook for yourself- if not the cafe 'neuf' next door is really as great as everyone has mentioned. This hostel is very welcoming to french speakers. Overall a great experience and as a frequent traveller I would list this as one of the best hostels worldwide.

Booked two private rooms and arrived a day early. I had given them the wrong date. They were very accommodating and made room for us. Location is amazing downtown. Parking. Great kitchen. Good people. Terrific French cafe. Will most definitely return.

A very good hostel in an excellent location, not far to downtown and not far to the pub and bar streets. Rooms and beds comfortable, kitchen excellent and nice common areas. Only downfall was no in room lockers.

The hostel was still under renovations when I stayed there so some of the staircases and doors where unfinished. The room I stayed in was comfortable and the bathroom very clean. It is a good location the Chinatown however a bit of a walk to the Toronto bus terminal. I would most likely stay here again.

Great location, huge kitchen and good communal room. Some parts are under renovation and it's not the cleanest. Other than that is the best cost benefit in town

The staff is very friendly. The location is good. Next to China town and CN Tower. One nice liquid and wine store just next to it. Not party hostel, the common room is not very big but super clean. Kitchen is nice with two huge fridges and I like their light green plates and bowls~

Our stay at the Clarenc Park in one word: wicked! We had a very good time there. The staff was more then helpfull with really every (stupid) question and very nice. The Hostel is located directly in the center of the city with really short walking distances to nearly everywhere! Only a few minutes walk to the CN Tower and Rogers Center, a few blocks from China Town and a spit away from cinema, restaurants, clubs and a lot of nice pubs. We loved it! Next time this will be our choise again!

Overall my stay was very good, the hostel is nice! The hostel would be perfect if they cleaned showers more often, put a small shelves on the wall next to every bed (haven't seen this feature any where, but it would be so useful!!), and checked the bed sheets before giving it out to guests (mine was definitely cleaned, but it had dark fabric from something else that was cleaned with those sheets). But as I said it was a pleasant stay. I liked the curtains at every bed, great idea!

Thank-you for your kind comments about our hostel. As far as our bathrooms are concerned, they are cleaned every day! But not after every guest uses them. If you are in a 8 bed dorm as this guest was, the bathroom is only as clean as the last person who used it.

A good stay, the Clarence staff were friendly, the kitchen well appointed and the wireless strong throughout. Felt secure and heating was well controlled. Well located 5 minutes from CN Tower with supermarket round the corner. Not a big 'community feel' hostel, but would recommend to those looking for a quiet place to stay. Cannot comment on dorms.

What this guest means by cannot recommend the dorms is they did not stay in our dorms.

Hostel is in a great location downtown and was very clean during my stay. Have now stayed at both Clarence Square hostels and would recommend both. Only minor complaints would be the size of the common room (pretty small) and the staff could have been friendlier.

This guest is completely accurate. Out of the thousands and thousands of guests that we have had, the entire staff got together and decided to be a little less friendly to him. Their was just something about him that triggered this feeling in all of us. This feeling of.....well......be a little less friendly! LOL!!

This was the second time we stayed at The Clarence Park. It was a good decision. The bathrooms are all new made (even in the dorms) and clean. The location is fantastic for the price! Just a few walking minutes away from everything you should see in Toronto. The staff is also very funny, friendly and concerned about the guests well-being. All in all I would really recommend staying there!

Excellent hostel! Amazing stay, we felt really safe. The staff was very nice, funny, and helpful. The location is excellent. It's right next to an amazing crepe place. The rooms were very clean. $10 parking for the 24 hours. Great deal! We plan on staying here again. Stay here!! Best hostel in Toronto!

Great hostel. Clean rooms; comfy bed; showers were great; etc. Lockers in the room would be a useful addition, but it was only a minor problem. The area is great and parking was relatively cheap ($10) when considering that you were in Toronto. Overall, I had a great experience.

We will never put lockers in the dorm rooms!!!! They make too much noise and sleeping becomes a challenge! If you stay in a hostel were they are in the rooms, stay at another hostel!

If we delivered such poor quality in the room as this guest is describing, why did they try to extend their stay? We were not able to accommodate. As far as our room quality, we have a professional laundry service! Not like most hostels that do their own. The quality is excellent or we would not have stayed with them for 8 years!!
