Very nice and helpful staff and very good contact with the hostel. The Connemara Sleepzone is situated in an extremely beautiful scenery near the Killary Fjord, far away from civilization. The nearest village Leenane is 7 km from it. It is not so easy to get to this place by public transport but possible thanks to a trip with the Galway Tour Company (the information is on the hostel side) which drops you off a one km from the hostel. This an excellent place for hikers.

a great location in a peaceful area. We had a good time on the terrace around the hand-made wooden table, the "plus": the chimney, the billiard...the staff is very very warm, thanks to johan!

Really nice atmosphere as there were lots of other young people there, and good areas to chill out. Would be good if the wifi worked in the rooms as you could only use it in the common areas. My bathroom had no lock on the door so felt a bit uncomfortable using it as I was in a mixed dorm. Overall though a nice hostel with friendly staff!

Great staff, really helpful with advice on what to see and do in the area. Big, well equipped kitchen and lovely dining room and lounge areas.

We traveled as a family with 2 kids, 14 & years. Had a family rooms with private bathroom- very basic but very adequate for our needs - it showed us that hotel rooms are a waste for us - we go out from morning to evening and we just need our own space for stuff & sleep - This met our needs perfectly - We availed of the free tea / coffee, toast butter & jam each of the two mornings - we brought our own cereals milk & fruit and ate as well as we would had home for a fraction of the cost - if we wa

Great value for money. Too few toaster, had to wait so much time to get a toasted bread.

Friendly French-speaking staff, next to Killary Harbour (stunning landscapes!), but the nearest pubs and grocery are 6 KM away. We had a nice time (though a tea-total one), however the hostel has 'hot water' issues: two nights there, cold showers twice.

We are quite disappointed with our stay at the Connemara Hostel: tapwater is drinkable (dangerous for children) +the room we had for the first three nights was : - shabby (broken blinds, shower hosepipe damaged), - not very clean - noisy (water pump under our windows, banging doors all night and washing machine and dryer late at night and early in the morning) + General facilities badly-maintained + inappropriate staff (unpaid young French interns)

Sorry you were unhappy with your stay. It was peak summer season so maybe busier - and noisier - than normal. We would have tried to accommodate you in a different room had you informed us.The hostel is professionally staffed but we also have relationships with some French business schools who send students on summer internships. It's good experience for the students - and extra hands on deck for us as well as French language speakers for the many French visitors to Connemara and to our hostel.

Excellent starting point for getting to see Connemara. Provided you have a car. It's a bit off the beaten track and it's located next to an adventure center, which can probably be a great addition for a trip with a group.

Great place to stay in with friendly atmosphere and beautifully surrounded.

Fergal, Joanne, and the staff were friendly and upbeat. The location is super beautiful, even if the bike ride from Lenaun is very taxing. There were nice places inside and out to hang out. We liked the en suite dorm room, though it smelled a little of sour water. Overall, a great stay.

Stayed 2 nights Mon/Tues 7/8th July, in family room-en suite. Superb location, albeit a journey to shops etc would require car.Found Manager to be very pleasant and helpful-recommended a beautiful walk to us within easy reach of hostel.Forgot my glasses, and when I contacted hostel re same it was not a problem to post them to me. Just one item that was missing-a blind for velux window, as light @ 5.30 am made it very difficult to sleep!

A very friendly person at the reception desk...giving loads of good advices and tips. Good welcoming guidance through the facilities cosy atmosphere in the evenings (tables for games, confortable seats ...even candles) The site was placed very remotely ....exactly as expected in Connemara ! Management of water heating was not too good for us (got cold showers!)...maybe a consequence of the green politics of the hostel (which we support !) Excellent overall impression ! ...keep doing what yo

It was wonderfully remote. A bit difficult to get around if you don't have a car. But people were kind and shared rides. The kitchen is nice and big and lots of food storage. The bikes you can borrow are handy even if they're not in the best condition. There are some really nice walking an biking trails nearby and the scenery is gorgeous!!

The gentleman staffing the hostel desk -- black/grey beard, name starts with an F -- was incredibly helpful and friendly! Knew the answers to all my questions about the area, logistics, etc. And the other women staff members were great too. Made a remote place feel very welcoming!

We really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it to other families. A lovely setting and with tennis, games, tv, a pool table, grounds and a short walk down to the fjord it was great spending a day at the hostel. Love four bed ensuite room was good too.
