Welcome to The Crossing Backpackers a truly unique hostel.
$69 special includes 2 nights dorm & transport to The Tongariro Crossing!!
Totally surrounded by the worlds first World Heritage Site, The Tongariro National Park.
Traditional Kiwi mountain lodgings, owned by a young Kiwi couple giving it all they have, they have been adding essentials as they can afford and really provide a great place to enjoy.
42 inch LCD TV, slate pool table, very private & communal showers, quarter acre building for Indoor Paint Ball. Set on 18 rural acres, FREE 220metre Fly Fox (Zip Line) for all guests.
Kitchens are basic but functional for you to cook for yourselves.
In winter, perfectly located between New Zealands biggest Ski Fields
Free pickups from bus/train stop (tell us in advance), shuttles service to & back from the Tongariro Crossing (currently $30)
Atmosphere is cool, no stress here, no traffic lights, and no supermarkets for 40kms either, come prepared for anything.

I cannot recommend this hostel enough! The staff makes you feel like one of the family and the atmosphere is great. I spent two nights there to hike the Tongariro Crossing and got the $69 deal which included my stay and transport to the trail. The hostel is better described as a lodge and has a huge game room, jacuzzi, and hidden movie room. The kitchen and eating area are big and open all the time but plan ahead and bring your own food as it's far from any store. I will definitely be back.
