Well located. Some rooms were under construction, so was noisy with the workers. Was clean and the bar and brakfast was great.

Very friendly staff, room was okay, free breakfast was amazing. No toilette in the 'bathroom' ensuite which is only a shower. But the toilette in the floor level was strangely never occupied. All in all, I recommend the Dictionary - Shoreditch is a cool place to wander around.

I live outside London and have to get a hostel as I was starting work early morning in The City, which is a block from The Dictionary. Very good & safe area. Staff exceeds all expectation (easter eggs on top of pillows,...). Those little attention that make a big difference with other hostels :) Very clean hostel (they are actually remodeling it, it's brand new). Quiet rooms: I have been in a 12 dorm room over easter weekend but it was quiet at night.

Good hostel with friendly staff and a nice bar downstairs that also doubles as a common area.. Breakfast is good if your able to get up and eat it!

Marked down for cleanliness because it's still in construction in places but a great spot and I'd definitely stay again/recommend it

One of the best hostels I have stayed in! It was in a great location for exploring London - I was able to walk to lots of cool places and easily access the tube stations nearby. There is free breakfast each morning (yay!) and the staff are friendly, helpful and there 24/7! They are currently building new rooms and a new kitchen which will improve the facilities. I would definitely stay again / recommend to people wanting to explore London.

Plus: area/ location!!! (East London), its clean, free breakfast (at the bar that belongs to the hostel), Minus: rooms are very small (but I guess that won't be different in other hostels in London either), no common room/kitchen, so its not too easy to get in contact with other travelers.

This place was quiet uncharitable. Little things annoyed us while we stayed there, e.g. there was no running water at some toilets/bathrooms, the presence detector in the shower didn't work (and having a shower in the dark isn't that funny as you might think), the closed door at our side of the room was not isolated at all, so all the night there was a freezing breeze from the floor. Missing air condition for a room of 12 people made the room very smelly in the morning and the staff was arrogant

All in all a good stay. The hostel is not very accessible by Tube, but getting around by bus is not too hard. It's in a great area with a lot of character (Don't miss out on the Brick Lane curry houses, The Big Chill bar, and in general the great vibe in Shoreditch). The lack of a kitchen is compensated by the amazing breakfast (yoghurt, coffee, croissants, bagels... and no need to do the dishes!) Beds are comfortable with locker underneath and everything was fairly clean.

Young hostel attached to public bar downstairs. Great location if you love your Vietnamese Pho as it's situated right on the "Pho Mile". The tube is a 10 min walk but a bus is right outside to London Bridge. Only gripe was whilst clean, the design of the 3rd level bathrooms means water is spilled out of the showers into the walk ways and stairwell. Dangerous and frustrating. Shower lighting also switches off and doesn't turn back on meaning some showers are dark. Noise only problematic until 1ish

HORRIBLE STAY. Room right above the hostel's bar, very loud until late; located in an aisle being renovated so you couldn't sleep either in the morning. room of 8, shared shower and toilets, but the water was barely hot even for the 1st shower in the morning, and since both were inside the room anyone going to the toilet in the night would wake you up. drunk people kept coming and going between the bar and the room just to use the toilet. staff didnt care.only nice thing was the breakfast.

There was no wi-fi in the room, and the wi-fi in the bar was terrible, there was only one spot for wifi in the reception, which is not a good place to stay to work... So it is not good for those who use Internet. The beds are too small, I have 1,91meters, and I couldnt fit on it... appart from that, it is a very good hostel... Nice place, super clean, because it is brand new.

6 of us stayed in the 6 bed (not en-suite) room and it was really nice and clean. The showers and toilets were all clean also. I've stayed in hostels before and the beds are normally not that great, I.E 3 tier bunks that shake like hell. But we had 2 tier bunk beds that were very sturdy and comfortable. The bar area is great and very busy at night. We were on the top floor so can't really comment on the noise levels as you couldn't hear it, although I'm sure it would be fine in any of the rooms.

Great, helpful staff. Fantastic location. close to some of London's best bars, clubs, cafes and markets. Had a great night in translate. Will definitely return to the hostel!

great location - in the centre of shoreditch! good bar at the bottom. rooms were generally clean apart from the floor which was extremely sticky! needed a mop and when we asked the person at reception to have a look he said yes, but nothing was ever cleaned. the showers were cold in the morning which never helped, and the breakfast was average. However, you get what you pay for i guess.

It was for sure the best hostel I've stayed in London. It's basic but cool.

Hostel was lovely and clean, they could do with investing in double glazing but for a hostel I understand that this may not be a priority!

Definitely not the 'best hostel ever' as some posts say. The place seems to be run by a bunch of friends, so I suspect not all reviews are legitimate. It is very clean and comfortable, but has no soul and disappointingly, no communal area or kitchen. There is a bar downstairs but it doesn't evoke much meeting and greeting as it is also a public bar. A lot of people seem to stay just to have a bed after a night out. There are better hostels in London.
