Had an amazing stay! Staff were really wonderful and help me with the million questions I had. Beds are super comfy and the room I was in was very spacious for a 12 bed dorm. Their bar Translate was super nice. It has a really relaxed feel and it is nice that it attracts Shoreditch locals too. Oh, and the discount on drinks for hostel guest was a bonus:) Thanks again guys!!

À nice hostel with small rooms. Be careful, bring earplugs: it is very noisy in the corridor... Very nice neibourghood, Shoreditch is so great! This hostel is also very clean, and the breakfast simple but useful!

A very clean and modern hostel in a good location in East London. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The beds were comfy and the rooms were nice and warm (whilst snowing in London). The Bar is cool and there's plenty to do in the surrounding area. Highly recommended!

My first impression was that no one was at the front desk. I waited 15 mins outside in subzero weather to check in, and a guy with a german flag on his coat opened the door, nonchalant and unapologetic. Blamed it on the doorbell. I saw this same guy at night as I did at 8am and felt sympathetic. A guy on Saturday was preoccupied with smoking and complaining about morning shifts. All in all, a cool hostel with aloof hipster staff. Saying hi may make you uncool, but will make others feel welcome.

This hostel is awesome! People are friendly, cool and you feel very welcome. I stayed in a 12 bed dorm and it´s no problem to share a room with so many people if you just are open-minded. The location is also really good; a lot of different restaurants and clubs. I think Shoreditch is one of London's most inspiring places to live; hipsters, artists and business people are all together in this area. The hostel was always clean and the cafe (Translate) is a cool place, so people -enjoy!!!

This place was full of really friendly people, I really enjoyed staying here. The bathrooms and showers are a bit small and in inconvenient places, but other than that there weren't many negative points!

The Dictionary is a pretty new hostel so its still finding its feet. Some maintenance work was occuring during my stay but this didn't detract from the friendly environment created by staff and the emerging charm of the hostel. Clean, close to cheap food, transport, Shoreditch shops, cafes and nightlife. Will definitely stay there again on my next trip to London.

Ridiculously noisy, read reviews about it being loud but the volume of the music was stupid, bed and the floor vibrate too. Door to the dorm didn't lock so didn't feel safe with it being accessed from a bar, all in all a rubbish nights sleep and the only hostel I've ever felt unsafe in. There's also huge gaps between the edge of the bunk beds and floor with no railings - unsafe! On the plus side - the bathroom was very clean, the mattress comfy, shower hot, bed pre made and staff friendly.

Very good location, in the heart of one of the best place in London! Rooms are cosy and pretty, and the staff is very helpful and nice with the customers. Breakfast is free, and very good (bagels and other stuffs), which is quite rare for those types of hostel... To make things short, I strongly recommend the Dictionary for a stay in London!

Hostel is developing, likely to grow and improve in the future! Expand breakfast to include juice or fruit would be nice.

great for location- east london isn’t obnoxiously touristy, but full of art, music, culture and we rarely wanted to leave the area. compared to the prev hostel we stayed at, this one was integral to our (positive) experiences in london. would highly recommend if you’re a 20something looking for a good time in the city. the only downside was the lack of choices at bfast (at least it was free). Staff were super chill and generally helpful, esp jack and sean at reception #cantsayno

This hostel could potentiall be very nice. Its quite new, I think, and lot of things still don't work perfectly, like the lounge area is drab, the kitchen part small, and the bathroom door didn't lock properly. Having the shower cubicle in the dorm area makes it very humid, and the cubicle is SO small its hard to get changed in it. Staff were helpful and knowledgable about the area, but they need to work in the character and atmospeare. Big plus on nice coffee though in the mornings.

The hostel is nice in general. The breakfast is poor. And there is only one big light in the room, it would be nice to also have small personal light.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Dictionary Shoreditch. The guys were very friendly and helpful with any questions. We all felt very comfortable. The locality is also good, because you are able to reach the next tube station "Liverpool Street" in about ten minutes by foot. Many thanks!
