Such a great feel to this hostel. Not too much noise just a nice place to call home. super clean and the staff were ever fantastic. I never had the chance to try but there's also a small pool.

Stayed here for a week and really found it a friendly place. The staff are very easy going and genuine and this tends to create a friendly atmosphere all round making it very easy to mix - which is the point of hostels. Loved the rear garden and pool as well. A quick dip in the pool works miracles on your hangover. Thanks! Simon.

A bit far from the old town - 20 to 30 min walk...As the name of the hostel suggests, it felt like a party hostel to us. The bar closes around 11 pm but some people hang around till 2-3 in the morning so if this is not what you want, you might want to think again. The staff were perfectly kind and helpful though. Kitchen was tiny but bathrooms were very clean.

Extremely disappointed with your rating guys. We go above the norm to explain, on-line and on reception, to make sure you are aware of where the hostel is located in Zadar. We never shut the bar before 12am and sometimes open till 2am if our guests are enjoying each others company. Also explained to you on our extensive check in procedure. Garden, pool, terrace, bar, lounge more than any other hostel in Croatia for facilities. Check where you stay next time please guys its not fair to the hostel!!

Only stayed overnight to catch a flight the next morning, but staff were excellent - the owner was a top lad and gave all 6 of us a lift to the airport cheaper than a taxi/bus would have been. Didn't get a chance to explore the surrounding areas, but easy to find - about a 10 minute walk from the Bus station.

There seemed to be a lot of groups on holiday, so it was hard to meet people. The bathrooms and rooms were very nice and clean. The kitchen was ok... you can't even make tea or coffee though so you have to buy theirs. It's a long but quite nice walk into town.

I stayed here for only one night but would have loved to have stayed for longer. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - they seemed more like knowledgable friends. The bar was cosy and fun where the guests come together and hang out in a really friendly and fun atmosphere. I stayed in the "Dungeon" and had a great sleep. It's about a 20min walk into town but the scenery is beautiful so it was well worth the it. Hope to return next summer!

Staff and atmosphere were great! We were unfortunately sick during our stay so we weren't able to party much, but their common room is amazing.

The hostel had such a good vibe, the staff made you feel instantly at home, always helpful and full of smiles, i intended on staying for one night and ended up staying for 5, it will sadden me to leave.

Had a great stay here. Good atmosphere in the place especially around the small bar at night - easy to meet others as a solo traveller. It's around a 20-30 minute walk from old town but for a good hostel like this it's worth the walk. Really close to bus station and beaches as well for cliff jumping. Can see why it's rated so highly. Would stay here again.

Staff wasn't very helpful. Bar and common area closed before they said they were going to. Which leaves guest with no common area to hang out. Great guests and atmosphere though, especially the sun terrace.

A good or a bad thing when staff remember you... We looked after you perfectly, as we do all our guests. On arrival, you were told, the bar is open till midnight unless we are very busy. If this happens we stay open till 2am. However, you were not with the whole hostel and staff that went out together, you decided to come down to the bar at 11.55pm and drink your own alcohol. We have no problem with this, but not to criticise the small amount of rules we had already told you when you checked in.

Really cool place. Awesome smoothies too!!!

Great place to stay, staff fantastic and very fun atmosphere. Facilities new and clean. Would have stayed longer but the place was booked out!

One of my top hostels ever! We were lucky enough to stay here for 4 nights and it was such a lovely relaxing experience. The hostel is a 5 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk into the old town (which is a pleasant walk along the sea). Staff are super friendly and organise barcrawls when the demand is high enough which was a fun experience with many free drinks at the start and tokens for smoothies after. Bathrooms are awesome and there's aircon! Literally cant wait to stay again!

Hostel is cool, staff is hyper friendly and helpful Weak point that can be improved and that would make staying perfect: Shower and bathroom are not very clean. It doesn't smeel clealiness. the mat on the fllo is dirty in all bathrooms.

Hi, i'm glad your stay was enjoyable. I have to mention to other readers that 99% of our reviews state that we have hotel standard bathrooms. We use hourly cleaning schedules for toilet checks, and our mats are changed more than once a day. We have your check out time, and the bathrooms were definitely used several times before your departure. Unfortunately we cant do much about this situation at that time of day as everyone requires the washing facilities. Enjoy the remainder of your trip :)

Had a really fun time with everyone at the hostel. A short walk to the coast to jump off rocks and have some drinks. A decent walk into downtown, but you expect that before you book staying here! The walk at sunset is incredible so it's not an issue. Good atmosphere and good people! I'll be recommending this place to anyone traveling to Zadar :-)

Absolutely brilliant hostel. The staff were great, the facilities were clean (some of the best hostel showers I have ever seen) and the location was a nice beachside stroll to old town. The bar was buzzing and outside pool area was perfect for chilling out.

I loved my stay at The Drunken Monkey. In a great location, close to the bus terminal and beach and a beautiful 15min walk along the coast to The Old Town. The hostel has a great atmosphere and is a great way to meet other travellers, and the staff are all fantastic and super friendly and helpful, and feel like friends. It can get a little noisy in the night so bring earplugs, or better yet join in the fun. I had a great 3 nights here.

Absolutely loved this place. Definitely recommended. I travelled alone and met so many awesome people. It's a very chilled place and as much as its a 20minute walk to the old town, youre 10 mins from a beach one way and rocks the other. The hostel also does some of the excursions which is much better than going with a company! We went to Krka (an hour away by car) and it was breathtaking. The staff were fantastic and always had a smile on their faces; A credit to the hostel! Thanks guys! :) x

The Drunken Monkey was a great place to stay. Amazing, friendly, and helpful staff. The pub crawl was a blast. The staff in the bar are great and always ready to make your stay better with a smoothie and very reasonably priced beers. Thank you for also being so knowledgeable and helpful with what to do in Zadar/Croatia. I appreciate how you take care of your guests! My stop in Zadar was great and had a lot to do with the Drunken Monkey!

Great hostel, one of the best I've stayed at. We used it to wind down after a 7 day camping festival and it was perfect. But it would be equally good in standard 'travel, drink and meet people' mode. Good facilities and very social common room. The walk to town is only a small downside as it's quite pleasant, and this location means you're located right near the water. Will definitely return.
