I had a decent stay here but I guess I was a bit disappointed considering how pricey it is. It is a cool looking place and the bathrooms are incredible but it is quite far from the Old Town (as they warn you, yes) and I had mixed vibes of friendliness from the staff. Overall I think I would be much happier if they just dropped the price a bit

It is a little tricky to find but just 5 min walking from the main bus station. To walk to the old town it takes 15-20 min. Those are the only slight down turns. The staff was very helpful. The facilities were very clean and the atmosphere was good. If you don't bother a couple of minutes walking to the city center, I definitely recommend the place.

We loved our stay at the drunken monkey! we enjoyed the staff, all the facilities and the town. We took the Krka national park trip and had a good time but felt it was slightly over priced. Other than that we have zero complaints and would absolutely stay again!

Great hostel with amazing staff. They were very helpful and also helped with short-termed arrangements when we missed our bus in Dubrovnik and came late. The pub crawl was fantastic and I could not have picked a better place to celebrate my 30th birthday. The hostel has great facilities, only one more bathroom would have been great, since the hostel was quite busy and there was a big queue in the morning. MARVELOUS food recommendation

The Drunken Monkey is an excellent hostel owned by a Canadian and Brit. Despite not being in the Old Town (the hostel is very open about this on its website), the hostel does have the advantage of an excellent location - 5 minutes from the bus and railway station, 2 minutes to the beach and a cool beach bar, Tequila Sunrise (5 minutes). Buses stop just down the road, the staff are really cool and incredibly keen to be helpful, and the hostel was full of sound people.

If you are going to Zadar, you definitly need to stay at the Drunken Monkey!! The hostel is only 2 or 3 minutes walking from the bus station, 5 minutes walking from the beach and 15 from the center! The place is really clean and safe! The staff is just amazing, they are REALLY helpful and friendly! My friend and I spent 3 weeks in Croatia, and this hostel is by far the best hostel we' ve been to!!! Tia and Mirna thanks you for the little Croatian lessons and Eva for the warm welcoming!!

This hostel is about a 20 minute walk to Old Town, but it was worth it. The staff is awesome. The hostel has its own bar and at night the staff hangs out in the common room, treating everyone like friends rather than just guests. This was one of the best hostels I've stayed in in terms of meeting people as a solo traveler. One thing- smoking is allowed (and frequently happens) in the indoor common room. Whether that's a pro or con for you, it's worth noting.

I absolutely loved this hostel. My friend and I stayed a week here while studying abroad and we could have not had a better experience. The staff certainly made us feel welcomed and were very friendly!

Overall, pretty good, nice place. But two issues: 1. Wifi in the West Wing is poor. I think the Wifi point is in the bar, but that really defeats the whole purpose of staying in a hostel if I cannot access the internet from the comfort of my own room. 2. A certain 'Harry' and his friends were annoying. While drinking, they were making noise, vomited in the kitchen sink once and banged on doors looking for each other. Nonetheless, the hostel did enforce its house rules of a 11pm curfew.

The staff was great. She allowed us to check in despite being after hours for the desk because some other people were checking out late for an early departure. Price was good and it was a nice little place to stay while in Zadar. A little jaunt from the old town, but very conveniently located near the Main Bus Station.

I was just dissapointed that the swimming pool was empty. If it can be used only some months of the year is something that has to be said.

This hostel is excellent! The staff are extremely helpful, the rooms are very nice and the vibe is great! The staff will help you figure out how to get the most out of your time in Zadar and help to organize day trips. They are so friendly and will stay up late chatting with guests and just really make everyone feel at home and create a vibe where its sooo easy to meet loads of people. It is a gorgeous short walk along the water to get to the old town. I highly recommend this hostel!

Definitely one of the best hostels i have ever stayed in. The owners and staff are incredibly welcoming and service minded, and go far beyond the call of duty when it comes to taking care of their guests. Other than supplying a great atmosphere, clean rooms, comfort and safety, they go out of their way to ensure that each visitor gets the most of their stay in Zadar by readily providing info or ideas for activities and destinations and regularly doing night tours for everyone.

Seriously the best hostel we have ever stayed in. From the moment you check in, you feel at home. The staff themselves are big travellers, so they know exactly what it takes to make a hostel a head above the rest. Big bathrooms, clean bedrooms, vibey bar, wifi, roof deck. We only planned to stay one night, but one turned into four. Do yourself a favour and check this place out.
