Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We at the Finnish church hostel are proud of our cleaning standards and are sorry that you have experienced anything other than total satisfaction. We will discuss this with our staff and make sure the daily cleaning is done thoroughly even on busy times and full occupancy.

Very small bedroom for 4. Hardly any room on the floor for the bags.

Lovely hostel with a really nice terrace to chill and relax. The staff on reception were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Very clean and secure place. The breakfast included was very good as well.

The only downside is the fact i will have to got back to get my deposit due to the fact on check the reception desk was closed . which due to the fact I work in London is okay but for others it cloud a problem .

Hi, How unfortunate that the early check-out wasn't mentioned on arrival, so that our staff could've returned your deposit on the previous evening and prepared you a leaving breakfast package, as is our habit here. We also can return unreturned deposits to customers account if they are in the U.K. Hope the matter is resolved, but should you wish to contact us for anything, please do.

Very good hostel, though a bit lacking in decent social atmosphere. Good nice sleep, ok breakfast. Not many magazines, books, or other relaxing facilities. Seems set up for families.

Hi, Thank you for your comments, they are very valued in our commitment to always try to improve our service and facilities. As a church we mainly receive clientele who are of Finnish origin, so perhaps not the most social kind and quite used to independently organising their activities outside of the hostel, but at times our cafe and tv corners do get busy with people wanting to interact with other guests. Our library has over 1000 books, but only a small section admittedly in English.

I loved this hostel overall but because staff leaves after 10:00pm they have a security weakness. The problem afterhours is that at least one individual was repeatedly coming into the hostel after normal hours soliciting money and sleeping in unused racks.

Hi, Thank you very much for your comments. our hostel staff indeed leaves work at 21.30, but the hostel is never left unattended, as the rectory is occupied at all times and is situated just next to the upstairs dorm rooms. The paid guests have 24 hr access to the hostel rooms with electric keys, but no outsiders can gain access to the building out of hours as all exits are locked. I would like to hear more of your experience, please email me.

Overall, a really nice experience. The stuff was friendly, free breakfast was simple but good.. the only thing I have to mention was that the insulation was pretty poor. All night long you could hear the cars driving outside and it was just generally a little too noisy for me. Other than that a great value for money and a nice location, too! Will probably stay there again.

Thank you so much for the feedback and positive comments. In a busy inner city area like Rotherhithe, the traffic noise can sometimes be a bit overwhelming to us silence loving Finns. The building had all insulation redone in 2007 with major overhaul of the entire building and things like the insulation were improved upon, but with a busy street outside, there will always be some noise coming through. Glad you enjoyed other aspects of your stay, we hope you return for a visit in the future.
