Although I stated I would be arriving at 1pm there was no one to check me in until gone 5pm. Having said that, the Manager (Ross) was super friendly and makes a big effort to involve everyone at the hostel. It's pretty far away from everything in town and a long walk to the starting off points for the walks. I'd recommend staying at the YHA. Good points - free wifi, log fire, breakfast.

Lovely hostel to stay in, only a short walk to the main street. Only bad point was that there were only 2 bathrooms for all of the guests so had to wait a while to use at times. We were given yummy biscuits at night and cooked a lovely dinner by the owners so can't really complain!

The wifi is very unstabile and slow, and there are not enough bathrooms. Would be better if toilets would be separate from showers because now you have to wait a long time sometimes, especially in the morning.

What makes this hostel work so well is the owner/manager Ross. He's sooo helpful- efficient. Obviously has the respect of the staff and of the residents. Katoomba is a fabulous place- reminded me of the Towns in the Lake District in the UK- lots to do and very accessible to nature. We were a group of oldies and were made feel most welcome!

Wonderful hostel with great atmosphere. I met some really great people here, and the owner is extremely handy and good at recommending walks in the area.

Really awesome hostel! Only negative comment is about the WIFI speed which is so slow it's unusable.

Very cosy and confy place. Chill out in the lounge area, get to know new people or just relax. Beds are a bit squeaky and out of shape but still very comfy. Not enough bathrooms - but nobidy is in a hurry here. I really liked the atmosphere!

Wonderful place, owner and staff very friendly and create a great sense of community - helped make up for the appalling weather during my stay! Another bathroom would not go amiss however...

Best place in Australia! I have been traveling Australia for for 2 months now and this is definitely the best hostel ive have stayed at so far. Small and friendly place with great atmosphere that brings the best out of every person(even a quiet french). Good information on really nice walks you could do and free gluewein some nights. If you like to talk to people stay at this hostel

Enjoyed staying here but the showers were poor and there definitely wasn't enough of them-there was generally a queue for bathroom morning and evening.

I didn't actually stay as it wasn't what I expected and I sat for over an hour waiting for the owner to come and check me in. I rang the number left at reception but received no answer so I took it as a sign and I left. Very disappointed as this hostel came very highly recommended from my brother.
