Best Hostel I've ever stayed in, hands down. Great character, friendly people and the guy who runs it is funny and personable. Met some great people we ended up hiking with the next day!

Love, love, love this hostel. Has such great character, attracts friendly outdoorsy people that are open to exploring and enjoying the trails with other travels. Great to end the day sitting by the fire drinking mulled wine or tea, having a chat with others or enjoying a good book. Slept great here, loved the people I met, even stayed an extra day because I just didn't want to leave. Anyone traveling to Katoomba and looking for a friendly communal place should definitely stay here!

It was a little cold in the room. I really enjoyed the fire pit out back. The main common area had comfortable couches and a wood stove. Very warm and nice room to spend time in. Super close to town. Nice place overall. I would stay there again.

There are hostels with nice plastic seats, plastic tables and lots of rooms. But you want this one. It is an older house that immediately makes you feel comfortable. Lounge area with guitars, didgeridoo, books and comfy couches. Rooms cleaned every day and bathrooms twice a day. Older kitchen but works. Back area with tents and eating shelter. Russ make huge batch of pasta and tomato sauce for all. Tables were pushed together. Fire at night outside. Bring marshmellows.

You either love it or you hate it. I loved it! You get treats along the way: free tim tams, pancakes for breakfast, free pasta nights, bon fires, play the guitar and get insider info on hiking in the blue mountains. Loads of personal attention, but sometimes maybe a bit quirky (no electronics in the common areas between 6 and 9 :S )

Includes free breakfast which was a treat over and above:). Very friendly staff. Perfectly located for trades coming by both bus, train and car. Located on a very quiet street, yet close to the Main Street of Katoomba. Very happy overall with our stay

Lovely place! If you like to stay in hostels to meet people and find new friends this is the right place for you! Very familiar atmosphere, everyone knows each other and the manager hangs out with the guests in the evening.

Flying Fox is really special and one of the best hostels I ever visited. Ross is very helpful and will point you to great stuff to do in the Blue Mountains plus there's free Wifi and breakfast, also occasional specials like BBQ and campires in the evening. The only downside is that Ross seems to run the place more or less by himself and if he is not there and you still have to pay it's hard to check out. If you have to leave on time pay the day before!

I just loved loved LOVED this hostel! One of the nicest I`ve been staying in (worldwide) The atmosphere is really nice and that has a lot to do with the people working there and the very friendly owners! They help you where ever they can, you get extra`s that give you the `home-feeling` I would`ve stayed longer if I didn` t have to go working. Really, the only negative thing that I can find is that there`s only two bathrooms, but that`s it. Everyone travelling through Australia should go there

Definitely one of my favorite hostels so far! It's very social, everyone is very friendly and the staff is great! Location is good, near the train station and very easy to find, plus all the walks start near the hostel. If you don't know where to go just ask the staff, they always have great ideas!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Flying Fox. It's one of the only hostel's where i have felt relaxed and at ease just to wonder around by myself, sit with others and make my tea in the kitchen. It's great breakfast is provided and there is a wide selection to choose from as well as free tea and coffee all day. Would visit again!

I've stayed in many hostels over the years and this is by far the best one. Very clean and makes you feel like your back home but your mum's not complaining about putting your feet on the table. The people working there were really friendly and caring, the little things like TimTams for the evening social hour really make a difference. Thank you all very much for a lovely time we had!

A great hostel thanks to Ross and his volunteer staff. Very friendly and clean with many different options to relax and interact with other guests. The house itself is a little cold even when it's a nice day, so make sure you bring some warm clothes.

Quiet, but just what is needed after a hard day in the mountains. Nice staff - let us in late and put breakfast up a little earlier so we didn't have to hit the canyoning on an empty stomach. We were there for less than 8 hours, so luckily we didn't have to brave the dire showers - 3 for the whole hostel would have been a challenge
