This was the best hostel I ever stayed in. Excellent location, very friendly and well organised staff. The room and all the facilities were clean, beautifully decorated and if you are lucky like me, you'll get the room with the access to the lounge and kitchen. It was perfect, I have nothing negative to say about it!!!

Hands down the nicest hostel I've ever stayed in! Great value and location and the rooms were very clean and nicely designed. Staff were friendly and helpful in suggesting things to do around town. There is also a nice restaurant/bar right next door where guests get discounts.

The fact that the elevator was out of order was a little annoying, but everything else was beyond great. The shower, the hand lotions and the rooms! Amazing, the best hostel I've been in a long time. I super highly recommend it!

The hostel is great. The staff's very friendly. And I love the decoration of the room so much. The hostel is near the famous places like York Minster, York Vik n Bettys' Tea Room. Its easy to approach them by walking.

Kind of expensive for what you get. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the hostel, and the location is excellent (right in the middle of the old walled town). If it were 5 quid cheaper a night then it would be more suited to what you get.

This place is professionally run and you receive first rate service right in the very heart of York. The smart downstairs bar below is ideal for a night cap or a hearty breakfast the next day. We stayed in double room around the corner, everything is spotless and well designed, the noise factor isn't an issue I think. Location superb. I highly recommend this place, forget hostels being bed-bug ridden hell holes, this place is far from that!

Had we known that the hostel is above a late license bar, we would not have booked, even though our room faced the back, than did not reduce the noise as there is a patio which is in use till closing - after which you get the full listen to the tidying up process.

Room was clean and the decor was ace! ( UV room). Only down side was the 2 single duvets on the double bed made it a tad awkward.. We only stayed one night so can't comment much on the facilities. Great centrAl location and the staff member at the bar was great.

A beautifully clean, friendly hostel with very high-quality, modern facilities. I felt a lot of thought had gone into the room- such as power sockets high up as well as down below, a comfortable sofa to sit on, a television and tea-making facilities at no extra cost. A very well-run and pleasant place to stay!

The room was fabulous and clean and warm and appeared reasonably new. The downfall was the mattresses. They were springy and uncomfortable. Staff did give us an extra doona each to lay on top of the mattress and it made it much better. Fix the mattress issue and it's a fabulous place to stay and an excellent location right in the heart of York's city centre. Staff also listened with sympathy and concern when I mentioned the mattress issue.

I had a great time staying here, the rooms were always spotless thanks to Yvonne and her hard-working friends, the staff downstairs in the bar were great too, really friendly and always happy to help. Lovely warm rooms, great showers, and you get a discount on the good food downstairs too. Only problem was maybe the lack of lockers in the rooms - could help security. If I'm ever in York again, I'll be back.

Great hostel. Clean with friendly and helpful staff. You also get additional discount for food in the restaurant below. The only caveat would be: since it’s just above the restaurant it gets a bit noisy on weekend nights, however if you are not a light sleeper you should mange fine.

Great place to stay, staff are so friendly and helpful. Spotlessly clean and lovely and warm inside despite the awful weather that week! I was on a training course but the hostel was so quiet during the week (although I have no doubt it perks up at the weekend!) and allowed me plenty of peace and quiet.

To check in you have to go to the bar next door where it seems like its a hassle to check you in. I emailed the hostel twice and did not receive a response once. the wifi did not work in our room and we where told we should have sat in the common area in the middle of the night to use it, ok not so bad you say well it would have been ok if there was heating in the common area it was so cold it was snowing out side. There was no atmosphere do not stay here if you want to meet people.

Very friendly staff, good beds & bathroom. Great location. For people wanting to sleep before 2 o'clock at night the nightclub downstairs is a problem.

Amazing place in the middle of the historic centre. You feel like having your own entire flat in York for a little price. Only problem: the flat was really cold when I arrived. But I really enjoyed and definetly recommend this hostel and this city.

we stayed in the picture room and felt that instead of chains for the bathroom entrance a door would be better suited as a the chains were noisy and very cold in the morning.
