This hostel is located in the absolute centre of York, 1 minute from the Minster, you can't do any better. The bathrooms are astonishingly modern, clean and comfortable - an absolute delight. The bed was so short that I could not stretch entirely (and I am only 6'1" / 185cm tall), I didn't like that at all. Still a nice hostel with very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful rooms, nice common room, rather small number of beds with spacy common room, overall very enjoyable.
Good location. It was expensive for a hostel if there is more than one of you and for the same amount we could have stayed in a budget hotel. We decided not to because we enjoy the atmosphere of a hostel and this hostel did not have it. York is a great city. I would recommend the hostel on location and cleanliness but not value for money.
Excellent place, very comfortable and clean. It is located in the heart of the town surrounded by awesome buildings unfortunately, I couldn't stay for more days
Hostel was great, all new and very clean. Only thing is the noisy from the bars around. I don't have much problems while sleeping but it was very loud. All the rest was fab! Thank you!!!!!

The staff was extremely friendly, and went the extra mile to show me my room and give a tour of the place. Was there when not many people were staying so it was hard to meet other people, but there is a common area with 2 kitchens thats great for a shared location.
Best hostel i have ever stayed in, hands down. From the staff, carrying my huge bag up the stairs to the cleanliness, location and facilities. Simply brilliant. Will be recommending to all my friends/family.
spacious room, clean and tidy. large common room with tv, would be great fun if there were lots of guests staying together. the kennedy's bar downstairs was cool. got 20% discount of food.
It's above a nightclub, so don't expect sleep. It's expensive. But it's clean, centrally located. York is small, you could easily stay somewhere quieter and still have easy access to the Town.
I loved staying here so much I extended my trip an extra day! You feel like you are in an apartment with the full kitchen, washer, pots and pans and coffee! You have multiple locked doors to get through so I never felt unsafe or worried. The food at the place downstairs is amazing. You are in a very busy area of the city so the weekends can be loud but that's to be expected if you want to stay in a central location! The staff is so friendly and always willing to chat and answer questions.
Absolutely excellent facilities. Thoroughly deserving of their claim to being a 'poshtel'. Definitely a bit on the expensive side but the rooms were always clean and well set out for travellers with comfortable beds, individual lights, bunks built into the walls (so no creaking or shaking from bunkmates), and power points on a ledge by your bed. Larger lockers would be handy and should be assigned per bunk.
overall its good but not very quite

Excellent facilities, a very modern building. Great location. Only negative is that it's loud at night, you are over a bar.
Except the noisy sound at a pub on ground floor, everything is very perfect!!
It's a very pretty hostel located right in the middle of the city, even the walkway around the hostel looks pretty. The hostel itself has a nice kitchen with all the equipment you need, nice shower and sufficient number as well. The living room is big and spacious. I can see a washing machine there as well although i didn't use it. Highly recommended if you visit the city
I felt like a valued guest from the first minute! I was showed around the hostel by a very friendly guy. The facilities blew me away! New clean kitchens. Free tea/coffee/milk. Microwaves/fridges. Large comfy lounge with huge flat screen TV with Sky TV. Dorm clean/warm. Bunk/duvet great. Toilets & showers fabulous. Downside - Lift not working during my short stay. Very loud music from night club downstairs at week-end would put some guests off, but the Fort's great facilities more than compensate

I had a great stay at the Fort, it is a very comfortable, clean and secure hostel in an ideal location. The staff at Kennedy's were always helpful and friendly. The facilities in the hostel were great; modern bathrooms, and the kitchen felt very homely. One downside - the noise from the bar late at night made it difficult to get to sleep, but the staff had thoughtfully provided earplugs to address this issue. Overall a great stay, definitely deserves its title as one of the best hostels in GB.
The Fort Hostel is located right in the heart of York. We checked in on a Friday night at the busy Kennedy's Bar, but this wasn't a problem and we were processed very quickly. A little bit of outside noise came through the windows, but nothing unbearable. Only one bathroom to share amongst 8 people, but again this wasn't a problem. We booked out a dorm and a double room so had exclusive access to the kitchen and bathrooms - perfect! Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
Perfect location but hostel not very clean, suspicious hair in the room, plus only small window, only in the room,a bit claustrophobic.
The hostel was in a great location, great kitchen and utilities, the staff were very friendly and the hostel was very clean. I met some great people who were travelling all of whom loved the hostel and York and stayed longer then they had originally planned Great value for money. Free internet, tea, coffee, milk.
it looks like a brand new hostel, the beds are confortable even if the rooms are tiny for the number of bunk beds they manage to put in. Nice kitchen and shower, toilet really small thou, but clean. The bad thing is they don't have a reception so if you arrive late you have to check in in the pub (really busy) around the corner. When we arrived the music was really loud and the club was PACKED with people dancing and we had basically to climb everyone to reach the counter...unpleasant
