Really dirty Bathroom. I know it is a Hostel, but some hygiene is essential. I can't stand disty things.

Staff was super friendly, but the shower doors were broken and the windows in the room don't close all the way

The rooms were very basic and the bathroom not very clean depending on the moment of the day. The members of staff were also a bit weird and particularly helpful. I just didn't feel good staying there.

Very friendly staff and good location but small room (4 beds) and dirty. The other person smelled bad, smoked and ate inside. Cold!

Spent Paddy's day weekend there, really cool atmosphere and super handy when traveling by bus and for going out! Staff is nice and facilities not too bad, not the best hostel in Galway but probably second best!

The place is a bit of a mess, but you could not ask for a better location. It is around the corner from the central train station and about 3 blocks from the main bus/coach station. It is directly off of Eyre Square (the main square) and is about 2 minutes walking from the Roman Quarter and main pedestrian streets and pubs. It is certainly not the cleanest place in the world, but the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the location cannot be beat.

Apart from the location and a budget hostel, this hostel is properly one of the hostel that I definitely not going back there again. The staff was okay but the environment in the hostel is so scary. Not sure if those old people is living in the hostel or they were staying a night or two as well but what important they're scary and loud. I got knock on the door at 11 at night asking if i know the code door, wtf? and the hostel didn't stay silent until like 3 in the morning...worst!

The Hostel's location is good and it's very cheap. That's it with the positive. The facilities were freezing cold, unclean, there was one 4x extension cord power socket for an 8 bed room, the breakfast consisted of toast, jam and cornflakes. Not recommended.

The location of this hostel was ideal, but it was overrun by locals staying there for long-term. The common room was uncomfortable and lacking, and the kitchen (though handy to have) was in pretty rough shape and very small. The majority of the people we met that 'lived' there were really creepy and the magority of the staff were pretty unfriendly. There were no couches to lounge in, but they did their best on keeping things as safe as they could. Make sure you have shower shoes.

My stay in The Galway City Hostel was very nice. The hostel has a good location just in front of the Eyre Square, close to most of the pubs in Galway. Only the showers were not hot enough for a winter season... I'd recommend anyway.

The hostel is well run and clean, but the bar next door is quite loud. A good value for the price, but bring ear plugs.

I am an avid traveler and have stayed in hostels for over 10 years now. I cannot possibly express how happy I was with this hostel - from the location to the staff, this place is the ONLY place I would consider in the future in Galway. I did not give full stars for Cleanliness because the bed covers were dirty and seemed only to be put back after last use and the common area plates and cups seemed to have only been rinsed (but there was a sponge and dishwashing liquid handy).
