This place is literally amazing. If you are traveling around Europe (especially only hitting the big cities and such) I would TOTALLY recommend stopping by here. It is located up in the High Tatras and the peace, calm, and super cheap everything are sure to satisfy any traveler. Thank you to Danka who made it feel like home, those apple pancakes and lasagne were to die for and I will be back! All my love to this place

Could have been a 100% rating but when we went there was no one there so the town was pretty much a ghost town.... Could imagine in peak season it would be fantastic

My only complaint is the pillows were a bit lumpy, and the breakfast could be a bit better, but is an excellent hostel in a great location and I stayed there longer than I intended.

This is an amazing place to either explore the Tatras or just chill out and the view from the hostel is incredible. The staff are excellent and are always there to help and we had a BBQ on the weekend. It's located in a small village so its nice & quiet - a great place to go if cities are getting too much. Would definitely stay here again!

I have stayed in literally 100's of hostels around the world and i have to say that the ginger monkey is the best. The hostel manager Daniella was extremely helpful and kind. She is a local and able to recommend Interesting itineries in and around the village of Zdiar. ( we particulary enjoyed the belinska caves and walking trails we were pointed towards) The hostel is spotlessly clean but retains a very cosy homely feel. The breakfast is great and includes apple pancakes and boiled eggs xxx

Me and my sister recently stayed at the Ginger Monkey and the staff was absolutely amazing. The manager was the sweetest lady I have ever met and the first thing she did for us was cook us pancakes and gave us coffee. Beautiful view of the mountains and lots of paths to walk down. It felt like a home away from home.

So laid-back, so friendly, so much like home. Apple pancakes were heavenly, Wally and friends were the best walking buddies you could ask for, and the views THE VIEWS!

I had an amazing time at ginger monkey! The location is perfect for getting around to the trails and is great if your looking for an escape. The girl that works there is lovely! She cooks amazing breakfasts every morning and makes you feel right at home. Comfy beds, good facilities and great atmosphere!

If you go to the slovakian Tatras, then you should totally stay at the ginger monkey hostel. This nice little hostel(house?) and it's friendly dogs are here to make you feel home, espiecially Daniela Kr, with her contagious energy and happiness.

It is true what they say about the Ginger Monkey, the staff go the extra mile. I was even asked what I would like for breakfast during my stay and they cooked pancakes with apple for me. Wally the dog is a delight such a friendly little dog and always happy to go for a walk. And the view around the hostel is the best I have ever seen from a hostel anywhere.

Cleanliness was a huge issue! and the dim lights, esp during winter leaves a more gloomy feeling. The room doors could not be locked which was a huge issue as I had to carry my things everytime I left and later I ended up changing my accomodation to place nearby!

This hostel is AMAZING. The staff is extremely friendly, they show you what to do around. At the exact moment you arrive in the hostel, you just feel like home. The view from the hostel is very nice. You can easily see the moutains. And in the backyard, there is an incredible path in the forest where you follow the range of a little moutain but with the perfect landscape! If you like to ski, snow or crosscountry ski but you dont want to ruin you. GO THERE! :):) Wally is the perfect dog ever.

Great place, great staff. Extended my stay twice and even then it was hard to leave! It feels like you're staying at a friend's not a hostel, which is rare to find - I will definitely be back!

Fantastic home away from home! From the moment we checked in Anne was very warm and friendly and made us feel like we were walking into her home. There is plenty to do around town, and the view of the mountains was spectacular! There were dogs around to go on walks with and to play...need I say more! Go to Ginger Monkey if you want a break from city life!!

I love this place soooo much. I'll be back before long. Play hockey in the winter or throw snowballs for Wally the dog to catch. Movies in the lounge with a beer and a few friends: teh best!!!

I felt really at home at the Ginger Monkey. Staff, guests and pets hang around together. Having food and drinks, watching a movie and of course enjoying the outdoors are all easy to do here. Most people who came to the hostel during my stay, decided to add an extra night or two. That says it all...stay in this hostel and you won't regret it!

Probably one of the coolest, chilled, friendliest hostel's I've ever stayed at. The staff are especially helpful and even loaned me some money when the ATM was down. Awesome base to get to the ski slopes from and a really cruisy peaceful town. This is the first hostel I've ever wrote a review for so that's saying something. 10/10
