This was by far the friendliest hostel that we stayed at during our tour throughout China. We stayed here over the Chinese New Year and were invited to share a delicious family dinner with the owner's family in the main room. We were also treated to complimentary treats in the common area which more than made up for the comparatively high price of the hostel. The hostel is also walking distance to Badaling Great Wall, which we hiked on New Year's Day. Altogether a very positive experience.

The communal area, where everything except your room is located, was only 9 degrees. (I was so cold I couldn't stay there and had to sit on my bed. ) The dormitory is cramped and the food bland. On the up side the shower was warm and clean and the people friendly.

Food was very good and everyone was friendly. Rooms and common area were clean. Good location that was near the city and Great Wall.

The direction to the hostel is very poor. We received a direction by email, but when we were supposed to go left, the direction said right. Since we arrived late at night, it was dark and there was no chance that we could find the hostel by using the directions they gave us. We had to ask people. The directions definitely need some improval. The rest of our stay was nice.

Superb accomm. A real luxury and for a very modest sum of £20 per person! As it was available, we upgraded our double room to a large suite with 4poster bed for free! Everything you need at this hostel and the food was excellent, served to our suite. Staff were extremely helpful although English was limited. 15 mins walk to the wall and 3 mins to the train station. Enjoyed every minute of staying here and would recommend anyone to book this

It's definitely a place to be if you would like to explore more on the Great-wall, not only the Badaling point but also other interesting points of the Great-wall. The Hiking option to the old part of the Great-wall with a local guide is a must try!!

A nice option if you want to stay on the wall until after all the tour groups leave.

This hostel is really beautiful and authentic. It's the perfect place to chill out, have a quiet night in in a beautiful and authentic guesthouse and go to bed early. There wasn't anything to do here except climb the wall or shop for souvenirs. We were very tired from exploring Beijing so it was a nice place to relax but I definitely wouldn't stay at Baldaling for more than one night, unless you've planned excursions. I'd recommend eating in the hostel - we had a really delicious meal there.

Thank you so much for a lovely stay! Tours great value and good fun, helpful staff, and a good base outside of Beijing.

This charming family fun establishment has to be one of the best places I have stayed in. Very friendly staff, high quality bed linen and delicious food. I highly recommend taking the tours offered especially the gorge and the and the old wall. 2-3 days is enough time to explore this area or to take a break from the big city and unwind a little.

This place is amazing. SO glad we found it. The people who work there are super nice and the place feels like a home in which you're a guest (because it sort of is). If you're going to see the Wall, stay here for sure so you don't have to rush through it with the other tourists out of Beijing.
