A very friendly hostel! The managers went out of their way to be helpful and organised a guide and taxi to the Broken Wall, and even came along to translate, when the Badaling Great Wall was closed for the Obama visit. It was very relaxing not having to travel to and from Beijing to see the Great Wall in a day and this Hostel had great character making the stay really enjoyable. A stay here should definitely include visits to both the Great Wall and the Broken Wall to see the contrast.A very friendly hostel! This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in anywhere in the world. The staff was helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the ambiance was great, and the location is fantastic. Being tucked away in the back alleys of the Hutong may not be for everyone, but I couldn\'t have asked for a better introduction to China. If I have the good fortune to return to Beijing, Sitting on the City Walls will be my home base. This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in anywhere in the world. Sorry for the late Comments. Its me, the tourist from Singapore! Its been a great choice that we have made to stay here! The Hostel is decorated traditionally which presents the culture of Beijing. The Hosts are very friendly and hospitable. Will come back to stay here again when I am back to Beijing.
Thanks for the hospitality. Looking forward in the future for the stay with you again. =)Sorry for the late Comments. Its me, the tourist from Singapore! There is only one word for this hostel - incredible! It is situated a 10 minute walk from the bottom of the badaling wall. It is a traditional courtyard and the rooms are decorated in a traditional style and spotlessly clean. We were lucky enough to be the only ones staying and were invited to join the owners for their family dinner which was very special. You are treated more as a friend than a customer. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back! There is only one word for this hostel - incredible! It is situated a 10 minute walk from the bottom of the badaling wall. Best hostel i have ever stayed! Was greeted upon arrival by a free pick-up (i walked the wrong way) and invited to sit down to a free family-style dinner with dirt cheap beer. The room was much more than I expected the the place oozes with character. Best hostel i have ever stayed! It´s a marvelous place. Staff´s extremely kind and helpful (the kindest chineses we met in 12 days) If you really want to visit the Great Wall, not just for 2h, I´d strongly recommend you the Countyard and, apart from visiting Badaling, that’s just 10min by walk, you should take the hiking on the old wall. Tip: take the transfer they offer, it’s really 3 times less than a taxi drive’ll rate you (the ride takes 1h30). It seams to be easy going by train-station’s just 2min walking to thereIt´s a marvelous place. This family-run hostel was an absolute pleasure to stay at. The people are very friendly, the rooms are all laid out in a gorgeous, traditional chinese style. The internet is fast and readily available in the main courtyard. Although it's situated outside of Beijing the train station is a two-minute walk away and it was nice to spend the nights away from the haze and hustle. This family-run hostel was an absolute pleasure to stay at.
