I was pleasantly surprised with this hostel after having read the previous reviews. The hostel was small and cleanly, it definetely was not a party hostel which was fine by me. However the atmosphere was very relaxed and the staff friendly. Be aware the location isn't central, but there's a bus stop right outside and an Sbahn station a 10 minute walk from the hostel. Get a map and a Hamburg Card and you'll have no problems whatsoever. Downside, the facilities were abit delapidated.
staff was friendly. room very small, with very few space to store our backpacks, but okay for the price. as to the safety: front door was open all night even when there was nobody at the reception. facilities: there were works in the men's showers so there was only one room with showers for men and women. toilet doors could not be locked nor even closed :(

I do not recommend this place. First of all, this hostel is pretty far from the center. Only few buses get there and there's a train station not very near. The hall is beatifully presented, but the true is hidden downstairs. Toilets in very bad conditions and not very good cleaned. Staff isn't very kind and helpful. It looks cheap but bed clothes are not included in the price and they are mandatory even if you bring your own sleeping bag. we found some nice people here though.
I would not recommend this hostel at all. Yes the rooms are cheap, but the property is so far away from the center that I think you're better off booking closer to the center and seeing more of Hamburg (plus with added costs like sheets, locks, etc. the price is comparable to closer hostels). My room did not have a lock on it at all, so I didn't feel safe during my stay. The space was dingy and depressing - no atmosphere whatsoever. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else!!
The lack of security in the rooms is made up for by the trusting staff. Although out of the city, it is easy to catch the S-Bahn into town. If you want somewhere a bit cheaper, this is a great option.
I really liked this hostel. The staff was extremely polite and helpful the entire time and the hostel has a nice atmosphere to it. It is a bit outside the main city center but is easily reach via a couple of different ways. Also, for those inclined to focus in this aspect, the wifi works quite well.
I stayed here one night only. The thing that let's this place down is the location, but it's a 10 minute walk to the nearest s-bahn station then 15 minutes to the city centre. The staff are very helpful and maintain a cozy environment. They also have a dog who does tricks!
Nice staff who is very friendly and make you feel home, but quite far from the centre...and the bathroom and toilet are downstairs
All of the facilities are in the basement, whereas rooms on the ground floor. Only one electrical outlet per four beds in the room. The showers didn't have enough places to hold clothes for both you and the other person showering without putting them on the wet floor. However, all of the receptionists were nice.
Best value in Hamburg with really friendly staff. It is located a bit away from downtown/reeperbahn, but is only a 15-20 minute U-Bahn ride to those locations.
At first glance, located a fair way from the centre & Reeperbahn, But only a ten minute stroll from the S Bahn. Room was extremely small, four bunks in a 'prison cell', but if you want somewhere 'just to kip' it's fine. The communal kitchen was spotless, & perfect to use, a Lidl just down the road. Staff very friendly. Not a 'party' hostel, but will certainly use again.
