Super convenient, was able to book bus tickets through their ticketing service super easy, plus free beer and free coffee coupons made for a great welcome! Wonderful rooftop and staff was very helpful. Taxi drivers know where it is, making it very convenient when coming or leaving town.

The hostel was in a good location - had a nice patio area overlooking the square. As noted by everyone else it was loud at night- but they did provide ear plugs in the room. The rooms were neat and clean. The place became a party place late at night if that is your thing. There was not enough staff at the desk so it took a long time to ask a question - in fact we gave up. Although they will help you plan a trip- expect a long wait for the service.

Great place. Staff speaks English. The air conditioner took a while to cool the room and the checkout time is a bit late so our room wasn't ready when we arrived in the morning from the night train. Other than that nothing to mention. Highly recommended.

Just stay a night there before leaving the province... it has everything you want and is the best in town. It is extremely well-located, everything is nearby. It has a nice terrace for drinks at night... seems to be the place to hang out. The twin private bedroom was good, fair size and clean but lacked a proper window and it was damn hot at night even with the air con on. The shared bathroom was good, pretty clean and had warm showers. Just didn't have the feel of a cozy and personnal touch...

This last time I splurged and got a double room ensuite, which meant that for a single traveler it was actually quite expensive. It would be nice to have some discount for single travelers' (even if not 50%)

Not the best hostel I have stayed in; very noisy location, and no air conditioning in the dorms, meaning windows must be kept open to avoid cooking to death in the heat. Staff seemed grumpy and only recommended activites they offered as paid tours - discouraging independent plans, which is unprofessional. The roof terrace is not so 'fantastic', it gets taken over by locals at around 10pm and I was actually asked to give up my seat to a 'paying customer', highly rude.

The hump is a very big hostel. They have everything, though many thing cost money, as laundry, internet, no out-side food. It's clean and good location, there directions to train/bus stations and other thing are useful, though they try to talk you into booking everything through them. Still a nice hostel, if you like the comfort of big ones.

English knowledge is to be improved, especially considering other guest houses available around Yunnan. Staff members will treat you as a number and not a guest. We have been obliged to book a room via the web, because the person in front of us was not able to do so. Waiting more than 45 min to get one breakfast out of two is not professional at all. Free luggage storage, yes but for one day only. Nice place for a beer on the awesome terrace, but that's it. Looking for a quite place forget it.

Great bar with cheap beer during happy hour. Helpful staff, excellent location in the city center, nice rooftop patio, one of the nicest hostels I\'ve stayed in in China.

We stayed in the private room which was not invited, seemingly, to the wireless network. I had to walk back to the door so as to catch up online. The room per se was alright, quite clean and cosy. The staff, however, varied in serving qualities. Location was a definite pro.

The dorm I stayed in was comfortable. The bar is big, with good food on offer. The noise of the bar is not heard in the rooms. Staff is really helpful and can organise many day trips, plus you can get all kinds of bus, train and plane tickets and day tours at reception. Hassle free traveling :)
