This hostel has to be seen to be believed. Quality and so cheap too. Wow! Staff were so friendly, breakfast (included) was served on a stylish black slate. Triple decker bunks were a bit high though if you don't fancy the climb!

The Independent Hostel is one of the most beautiful and clean hostels I have been to. The staff made my stay very pleasant. The restaurant which is open to local people brings in a very special flair and the location of the hostel is just perfect. I would definitely recommend that place to everyone who is going to visit Lisbon!! Thank you!!

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in! Staff go out of their way to help you, the restaurant downstairs is epic (try the steak for main or shrimp for starters!), the rooms have loads of character. We extended our stay twice because we loved staying here and in Lisbon itself. There's plenty to do in the area (and at the hostel), particularly in summer when they'll start up surf lessons, cocktail lessons and continue with the wine tastings and jam sessions. 10 out of 10!

Loud music from their restaurant until 1 or 2 am... Sometimes from the common areas too, there is no sound isolation in the bedrooms, very very hard to sleep. You can never tell if the showes will be cold or hot. They have an electricity issue, for sure, light cuts occured very often. Nice simple breakfast. NO kitchen. Most of the staff seemed not very friendly... But the building is beautiful - that's all.

This hostel was a great place to stay on our weekend trip to Lisbon. The only issue we found was that there was no kitchen to prepare our own food, but the cheap option to have dinner with the staff and great food made up for that. The staff was helpful when we had questions about making reservations for tours and had a taxi ready for us for our early departure of 5am. Great hostel!

Clean and beautiful place, but noisy. There is a bar downstairs, and if you need to sleep early, forget it, the noise will bother you. The bedroom´s door is noisy. In my room, I couldn´t avoid to awake the others because of the noise when I tried to open it. Toilets and showers could be better.

Very good stuff, pleasure and kind. The unique point is the restaurant on the background that was so loud and disturb at night time if would like to rest, maybe with some soundproofing could be ok.

Meals in the Decadente restaurant for lunch and dinner could be discounted for residents. Also corridor doors could be closed to minimise noise at night.

The staff was amazingly friendly! People are just awesome. The hostel is a dream, definitely one if not the best hostel, where I have ever stayed in my life. The bar/club is just awesome, the restaurant is really good, the breakfast is included, the facilities are super modern, it seems to be very new everything and what is more important CLEAN!!! very clean! The location is great, between the shopping area and the areas of bars, with a beautiful view in the morning on the top of a hill.
