This hostel was great! The staff want to ensure you have a great time: free walking tours, surfing lessons, pub crawl, a bar in the hostel... it was wonderful! Fantastic location too.

We had the best time in the giant bunk beds. Great bonding for our group!

I had a lovely stay at The Independente, it is a truly friendly and comfortable place, a home away from home which gives a perfect balance to exploring a new city. A great design with smart, thoughtful details, a welcoming staff who are always there to offer advice and a smile, a pleasant atmosphere and a bangin kitchen and lounge. Thank you for everything!

The staff is so helpful!!! They made so many great suggestions and were so friendly! They taught us helpful phrases and showed us places to go. We were so happy with our accommodations, and the breakfast was really good. We will definitely come again and stay much longer!! I would recommend this hostel to anyone looking to go to Lisbon. Thanks Nuno and Manuel! This was really a great place to stay. It was clean and well taken care of also.

Overall I was very pleased. Good location, very friendly staff, the included breakfast was the bare minimum but just fine. My major concern is that the doors (which use key-cards) don't automatically lock when you close the door. Everyone in my dorm and the people from several other dorms all said that you have to shake the handle a bit to get it to lock, so if not everyone knows that, your possessions are just in locked cubbies, but not locked into the room itself. Everything else was great.

Great hostel with friendly staff and wonderful rooms. Had a wonderful experience and definitely worth the price. A slight complaint: the instructions to get to the hostel from the Baixa-Chiado metro was really confusing. A better option would be to exit using Restorades metro and either climb up or use the furnicular.

Love this hostel to the max! Really friendly staffs, very delicious breakfast, clean bathrooms ( well it got so crowded in the morning as everyone wanted to use it but its alright), and you get magnificient view right in front of the hostel! Will definitely come back again for my next trip to Lisbon!

Perfect staff and well-decorated facilities! And I like the stairs to the bed! Yet it could be a little loud since there seems to be parties around and the walls can't really resist sounds.
