This is an awesome hostel. Small things really make a difference like being given a towel in the dorms. the hostel itself is beautiful. The owner encourages people to get together, the food is good and the staff are always willing to help. the beds are large and comfortable, which can be a welcome break from the hard Chinese beds as well. This is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in. Guesthouse is located just outside the old city wall but is only a 5min walk away from a lot of places in the old city. Room was modern and very clean. Staff very helpful. Wish I could have stayed longer, would stay there again.

It was great experience for me to stay at Jade Emu Hostel. Nice building, good rooms and nice, peaceful atmosphere, Many hostel owners could learn a lot from Jade Emu, they know that travellers need.Only one thing I really missed: Guest kitchen!!!But the food they prepare is good.If I want to go back to China another time, then Jade Emu is one of the main reasons, because then I will go to stay there.It was great experience for me to stay at Jade Emu Hostel. You couldn't find more helpful staff than at this place. I left my glasses in the room and they not only told me before I'd realised, but arranged for them to be taken to Lijiang for me to pick them up. Also rented the best bikes we've found in china here (21 gears and they actually worked!) Rooms are big and immaculately clean, and the food is a bit limited in choice but tasty.You couldn't find more helpful staff than at this place. Excellent! They've thought of everything. I was only a little disappointed I couldn't get breakfast early when I left at 7am to get a bus, nor would they make me a sandwich the night before. But otherwise I would totally recommend this place!Excellent! They've thought of everything. Best hostel we've been to in a long time. Great staff, pool table and bar, rent your own dvd player or xbox for your room.and get popcorn! Location just outside the main old town so quiet which was good for us.

A very successful hostel, with an owner who takes a personal interest in ensuring that everything works - except a loose loo-seat and a slow puncture on a hire bike!
