The Jailhotel

The Jailhotel is located in the heart of Lucerne one minute walk to the beautiful lake and around the corner of the old town. All points of interests in Lucerne can be reached on foot. If you arrive by train the hotel can be reached in 7 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by taxi, which is waiting just outside the train station. To park your car there is a public parking called "Altstadt" only 5 minutes on foot or you can buy special parking cards for public parking spaces, in the city Lucerne marked white or blue, directly at the reception

The former prison was built in 1862 and became the first prison hotel in Switzerland in 1999. Today the hotel accommodates all kinds of national and international guests from young to old, from backpackers to businessmen. All of them want to experience the unique jail feeling and be right in the centre of the city. There are 56 cells from the original "Unplugged" to one-of-a-kind suites. All rooms are equipped with private bathrooms with shower except the Unplugged rooms have their private shower across the corridor.

There is no Elevator and no TV or Phones in the rooms - we like to keep the atmosphere original!

The reception is manned 24 hours. The Jailhotel-Team is more than happy to be at your command for any questions or matters. The hotel's rich continental breakfast invites you to have breakfast from Monday to Friday from 7 until 10 and during the weekend from 7 until 11am.

During the weekend, the Club "Strichpunkt" is open from 10 pm - 5 am and could cause some noise. Hotel guests enjoy free entry though.
