The Judy House and the owner Sue were amazing! I stayed at a resort the first few days then realized I wasn't seeing "real Jamaica" so headed over to the Judy House. It was in a great area, easy to walk around, I met tons of locals and was able to eat some good Jamaican food at local spots. It was a taste of life on the island outside of the resorts, and I loved it. Sue is warm and there to help in any way she can. I highly recommend staying there.

Sue is fantastic, advice or just friendly chit chat to arranging drivers to take you out to do tours!! The premise is a short hike up a quiet road but 100% safe to do, even in the night. A nice beach and great little cafe located right at the end of the road. Gets a bit hot in the 2 person rooms is probally the only down side here.

Sue is AMAZING. Such a nice woman, is a great references for local places to go in Negril, and you can tell she loves what she\'s doing. There\'s a fridge and kitchen up for use, the rooms are very basic and really hot during the day (but who\'s staying in their rooms during the day anyway?), its basically all a backpacker needs. The only downside is it is a 10 min walk (on a hill) to the \"beach\" (a tiny strip of sand right off the main drag) and like a 30min walk to 7-mile beach. Great property.

this place is a hidden treasure. It's beautiful and cozy and while it doesn't advertise itself as one, it is actually an eco-friendly property. Although if you don't like cold showers you might want to pay more to stay somewhere else.

GREAT memories in Negril thanks to the Judy House! This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. I was booked for only 2 nights, but I ended up staying longer because I loved Negril and the Judy House so much! Sue, the owner is so funny and she makes sure that you feel comfortable! The location is great (walking distance from the beach) and Sue helps you find inexpensive things to do. The locals in this area are super friendly and they don't try to rip you off or hassle you. Stay here!!

This is the best hostel in Jamaica. The tenant, Sue, is very nice. There was a great atmosphere, we could hang out with the locals who were living nearby. It was easy to have breakfast/lunch/dinner for cheap just in front of the hostel. The cottage is absolutely gorgeous.

It's a very attractive property and the amenties are fine with the exception of the water system which didn't allow one to take a shower. Community water had to be purified due to inadequate plumbing infrastructure. The Owner is a bit too money conscious and that detracts from the atmosphere immensely. I wouldn't stay there again due to her attitude. Lastly, the unattractive odor that sometimes permeates the property is due to it's neighbors 30 goats and 25 chickens, not a blocked gutter.
